The Season Of Color

A new challenge starts today at Can You Handle The Pressure? where the theme is always Anything Goes with an Embossing Folder and an optional twist. Heat embossing is welcome, but not required. An Embossing Folder must be used. For this challenge, the twist is "Leaves".

My background is embossed with the SSS Fall Foliage EF, colored with various Distress Oxide Inks and mounted on brown card stock. I stamped my sentiment from Paper Smooches Fall Sampler stamp set on cream colored card stock with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink and die cut it with Pinkfresh Studio Braided Circles. I die cut some leaves with Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves dies and tucked them around the sentiment circle, and my card was complete.

Please head over to the Can You Handle The Pressure Challenge? blog to check out the Design Team inspiration projects. You are sure to be impressed (pun intended)! Then dive into your embossing folder collection and join us with or without the twist! Just be sure to use an embossing folder on your creation!

Snowflake Thank You

Using more new "schtuff", I created this card using holographic card stock from SSS. At first glance, it looks like silver foil, but when you move it around n the light, it turns many different colors - so cool! I used this wonderful Penny Black snowflake tag with the holographic card stock for the base of the snowflake, and white glitter card stock for the detail. I used my new SSS Snowflake Visions Embossing Folder for my background, foiled a SSS Sentiment Strip for my sentiment, added a little twine, and my card was complete.

Poinsettia Thank You

Time Out #204 begins today, We are challenged to create a project with the theme of "New". So much room for interpretation there. Since it is New Year's Eve that is certainly an option, but there are so many other places to take it.

The challenge runs from Thursday, December 30th to Wednesday, January 12th. We are generously sponsored by Uniko.

Challenge winner as chosen by our Design Team will receive an in-stock stamp set of their choice from the Uniko store. In addition, our winner will be eligible for a guest designer spot in a future challenge.

With this last challenge of 2021 and "new" as the inspiration, we introduce and welcome our two new design team members. We are so happy to have Nancy and Aarthi join our team.

Also joining us for this challenge, we have the incredibly talented Chrissie Stokes of Simply one of a Kind. Chrissie was our Winner of Challenge #201. She is the co-founder of Less Is More Clean and simple challenge, and the Queen of Clean and Simple card making. Treat yourself to a stroll through Chrissie's blog and you will be sure to get your creative juices flowing!

My card is all about new crafting goodies from 4 different sources. Altenew's Perfect Poinsettias 3D embossing folder, Waffle Flower's Layered Poinsettia Die, Nordic Frames Die from The Greetery and sentiment from SSS CZ Designs All The Thanks stamps and dies.

Beachy Thank You

I needed a simple thank you card with a beach theme that I could easily duplicate.  After going through my beach stash, I broke out my NBUS Echo Park Starfish 6x6 stencil and inked it up with Abandoned Coral and Dried Marigold DO Inks. I stamped the Picket Fence Thank You sentiment, added a popped up Adirondack Chair stamp and die from the June 2018 MMH kit, and my card was complete.

Beach Please!

Less Is More Challenge #448 begins today. We are challenged to CASe Design Team Member Elaine's card below.  As it is Elaine's birthday when the post goes live, she has been charged with giving us a card to CASe.

I took some thinking for me to come up with a plan for this one. I settled on a very old stamp by Outline Stamp Company. I stamped the image with VersaClaire black ink and embossed it with WOW clear EP. I colored the images with COPICS, cut them out and arranged them on a 5 1/4" square card base. I added the wonderful sentiment by Impression Obsession, and my card was complete.

Please head over to the Less Is More Blog and see what the Design Team has created for your inspiration. I hope you'll play along with us to share your creations. Remember to keep your design Clean And Simple. See challenge guidelines on the Less Is More Blog.

Celebrating Summer

I am a teacher on summer break, and I am filled with gratitude for that! It has been a long, hard year of teaching during a pandemic and all of the challenges associated with that, and I am doing the happy dance in a big way. This card is a celebration of all things Summer - beach, BBQ, ice cream, fireworks, time to craft, etc.

To create my card, I used A Colorful Life Designs Sun and Surf Stencil with distress Oxide Inks, and the Hello Summer die set from Neat & Tangled (retired) with a vellum background. The word is stacked three times with white card stock, and the top die cut in done with mirror black card stock. It shines beautifully and really stands out.

The inside is stamped with a sentiment from Neat & Tangled Hello Summer Stamp Set (retired) and reads:

WARM OCEAN BREEZE
SUNSHINE
FIREFLIES & FIREWORKS
ICE CREAM CONES
BARBEQUES & BEACH DAYS
FLIP FLOPS AND FUN TIMES

You Are Loved

Today, I watched THIS video by Jennifer McGuire, and immediately wanted to try this technique. It uses sanding blocks, and I actually had SU sanding blocks in my stash that have not seen the light of day for at least 10 years! Oh happy day! Here's to hoarding supplies... and I have about a million embossing folders. I am so glad to see EFs having a bit of a renaissance in the craft world these days. Since I still have Valentine stuff all over the place, I chose to try this with my Sizzix 3-D textured Impressions Hearts embossing folder.

I applied and blended 3 shades of Pink Distress Oxide Inks from dark to light onto Neenah Solar white 110# card stock. (next time I will use more contrasting colors). I ran the embossing folder through my die cut machine, then sanded the raised areas with the sanding block. The SSS You Are Loved Word and Shadow Die Set was already foiled and assembled and in my snippet box waiting to be used. I popped it up with foam tape and adhered it to my background. Done!

I just love the way this turned out, and of course, I went shopping afterwards from Jennifer's supply list, as I really loved doing this. Of course, I bought more embossing folders. Oy! It all started with a visit to one of my favorite crafty friends, and her wonderful card made for Let's Squash It, though she did not use this technique. The rest is shopping history. Tee hee hee.

May Peace Fill Your Soul

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out!!! Time Out Challenge #166 - We challenge you to be PEACEFUL.

We are generously sponsored by Newton's Nook Designs. The challenge winner will receive a $25.00 store credit to spend in the Newton's Nook store.

Our Guest Designer is Sue of Sentimentally Sue, a wonderful designer whose creations are always so wonderful, fresh and creative. Treat yourself to a stroll through her blog for some awesome inspiration.

Now on to my card - nothing brings me more peace than the sea. I love to sit on the beach and watch the waves crashing and listen to the sounds of the sea's song to sooth my soul. It brings me joy and peace and happiness like nothing else. So for this challenge prompt, I chose to use this gorgeous WAVE layering stamp set from The Ton. I stamped the layers in three shades of blue on watercolor paper. I added a sentiment from PTI's Peaceful Garden, heat embossed it, popped it up and adhered it. I mounted the wave panel on SU Night Of Navy card stock, and my card was complete.

Grieving With You

I was looking through my list of challenge blogs today, and saw the colors for CAS On Friday.
I love them, and immediately went to work using other inspiration from other challenges to create this sympathy card. I completed the card, and then it hit me! By my definition, the card I created is NOT a CAS card. Too much patterned space! Ugh. Still, I really love the way it turned out and though I am not entering it in the CAS On Friday challenge, there is plenty of inspiration from other places where it fits.

Supplies:
Paper: Neenah Solar White 110# and 80#, Patterned paper that came as a gift in a stamp order.
Stamps: Altenew Flower Arrangement
Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black, PTI Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Ocean Tides, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold.
Accessories: Altenew Flower Arrangement Dies, MFT Stitched Scallop Basic Edge Dies.
