Always On My Mind

When I saw This week's Muse inspiration by Anita Bowden  for Muse Challenge #134 over at the Muse Challenge Blog,  I thought - vellum. There is no vellum on Anita's card, but that where my mind went. I used the color scheme of Color Throwdown #361, and applied green and yellow paint to wet watercolor paper for the background.  I embossed PTI' s Year of Flowers: Mums images with white EP on vellum and adhered that vellum panel onto the watercolored panel with a black card base. The sentiment is from the same collection, embossed in white on an MFT stitched flag die cut. I used twine instead of thread, though I am debating whether to change that.

It was so nice to be able to get 2 cards in this weekend.  Work and family is keeping me hopping, and have not been able to get to visiting my blog buddies very much. Hopefully I can get to some of that later.  Thank you for stopping in today.  Have a great day!

Halloween Word Play

The theme for the new challenge at AAA Cards Challenge is "Word Play" - use mostly words on your project. This immediately made me think of the Subway Series: Holidays stamps from Fresh Squeezed Stamps that I have had in my Autumn holiday stash for a few years. I blended some distress inks on a stitched rectangular panel of watercolor paper and embossed it with some Ranger Black Sparkle EP.  The spider and web side panel are cut from black glitter paper with Martha Stewart punches - also found deeply placed in my Autumn holiday stash.

Thankful

I have been playing with the gorgeous new SSS Maple Leaf Corner Wafer Die. This is my second card using the pieces of the die cut in reverse. I smooshed several Distress Inks in fall colors on to watercolor paper and die cut it.  I also used the die on SU brushed gold cardstock. In the previous card, I used the gold outline and inserted the water colored leaves into the negative space.  For this one, I did the opposite. "Thankful" was a die cut sentiment from PTI's Phrase Play #7 Die.  The splatters are stenciled with Tim Holtz Speckles Layering Stencil and Tea Die Distress Ink. The May Arts silk ribbon is rich and gorgeous and has been in my ribbon collection for a long time. This is a bit of a departure from my usual look because of the ribbon, but I really like it.  I am linking this card to the following challenges:

Welcome Autumn

Autumn begins this week, and though I hate to say goodbye to summer, I do love the sights, sounds, scents, tastes and celebrations of Autumn. I made this card in celebration of the new season. The corner leaves die cut is from SSS and the sentiment stamps are from Winnie & Walter. Let the fall begin! I have  linked up to the following challenges:

Celebrate Fall

It's still very summer-like in the northeastern part of the US where I live, but the school busses are running, and football season is starting, so it's time to think Autumn thoughts.  There's a new AAA Cards Challenge - Game #48: Autumn Colors.

Go Check out the wonderful creations of the AAA Cards Design Team on the AAA Cards Blog and play with us.

Here is my take:

I've had these fabulous Fall fabric pieces from Crafty Secrets in my stash for a long time. I love vintage images, and this one was perfect for the AAA challenge combined with the current CAS-UAL Fridays challenge.
I used PTI white adhesive sheets to back the fabric rectangle to keep it from fraying. I added the musical staff cut from the Memory Box Virtuoso Music Die. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter's Big, Bold Seasons. It is stamped with VersaFine Onyx Blackened embossed with SU clear EP. A little bit of twine finishes it off.
