Thank You

I am pleased to be here today with my Guest Designer project for Retro Rubber Challenge #166. The challenge is to create something that is inspired by the photo below.

At Retro Rubber, the idea is to give old stamps some love. Use a stamp older than a year and you must include the age (or approximate age) of the stamp in your blog post.

When I saw the inspiration photo, I immediately thought of Impression Obsession's Flower Pitchers wood mounted rubber stamp that has been in my stash for at least 10 years. I stamped it on Neenah Solar White 80# card stock, colored it with Copics, and added Wink Of Stella to the flowers. I die cut the image with Pinkfresh Studio's Braided Tag die. I used Neeneh Solar White 110# card stock for my card base, and stenciled it with Pink Posh's Jungle Background stencil. I stamped a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp's Best Friend Ever stamp set with VersaFine Onyx Black ink, and clear embossed it. I adhered the die cut with the floral image to the card bas and my card was complete.

Please head over to the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog and see how the Design Team interpreted the inspiration photo. Be inspired, let your creative juices flow, and come play!

Tic Tac Toe Birthday

I am so pleased to be here today with my creation as Guest Designer at Tic Tac Toe Challenge for Challenge #128. Here is the challenge board:

I chose vertical row 1: Stencil, Any Color Ink, Birthday.

The star of my card is the wonderful Birthday Cake Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. I used 5 shades of pink/red Distress Oxide inks for my cake, and 2 shades of blue for the candles. I masked off the candle flames and applied Dreamweaver Metallic Gold Embossing Paste for a lovely shimmer. I used Julie Ebersole's Big Scripty Happy Birthday die from Ellen Hutson.

Please hop on over to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge Blog, and see what the wonderful Design Team has created for your inspiration, then pick a row and play!

Thinking Of You

Our Guest Designer is Maaike of Cards By Maaike and Less Is More June winner. Maaike has a wonderful, often CAS design style. Please visit Maaike's blog where you are sure to be inspired. Come play with us!

I used one of the stencils from Simon Says Stamp CZ Designs Simple Patterns Trio Stencil Set and applied Worn Lipstic Distress Oxide Ink. When It was dry, I stamped one of the flower bunches from Simon Says Stamp's Best Friend Ever stamp set in VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink, heat embossed it with clear EP, added my sentiment with the same process, and my card was complete. New Chapter

It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday where every challenge is an inspiration list based on a selected holiday/festivity from the traditional to the unusual. Challenge projects must include at least three items from the festivity inspiration list.

Since the Inspiration List is a mix of elements related to the festivity, the creator has the choice to make something for that festivity, or to ignore the festivity all together and create something just using three (or more) elements on the list.

Today's festivities are in celebration of International Literacy Day, which takes place September 8th. The challenge runs from August 20th to August 31st.

I like to create a card for our challenge that goes with the celebration theme. Literacy is a subject that is near and  dear to my heart. The 8th of September was proclaimed International Literacy Day by UNESCO in 1966 to remind the international community of the importance of literacy for individuals, communities and societies, and the need for intensified efforts towards more literate societies.

To create my card, I die cut a piece of 80# white card stock with the Hero ArtsBook Window Fancy Die, and colored the books with Copics. I masked the books and stenciled the background with a stencil from Art-c. I wrapped a piece of grosgrain ribbon around the panel on the left side to go along with the ribbon book marks in the die cut. I popped that panel up and mounted it on a kraft card base on which I had stamped my sentiment in black and clear heat embossed. I used book, stencil and ribbon from the inspo list.

Come play with us! Remember that your project does not have to go with the challenge theme. You can just use 3 or more items from the inspo list for your creation!

STAMPlorations Throwback Thursday - August 2021 - Lotus Love

Hello and Happy Thursday! I am thrilled to be here today with my third and final Guest Designer post for Throwback Thursday at STAMPlorations. Throwback Thursday is a sharing of 3 new projects inspired by a previous STAMPlorations project made by either the featured designer or another STAMPlorations designer. Every month, one lucky crafter is drawn from all of the comments left on the Throwback Thursday post, as well as from the featured designer's blog, to win a $15.00 gift code to use at the STAMPlorations Store. Be sure to comment on this post for a chance at a $15 prize code. If you comment on the Throwback Thursday post on the STAMPlorations blog, you have another change to win a gift voucher.

My Throwback inspiration is this gorgeous card created by Cornelia Wenokor using the Lotus Love clear stamp set in the Dee's Artsy Impressions line, and one of the products in the Lotus Love Kit.

Here is how Cornelia's project inspired me.

My TBT Project #1:

I masked off the squares, blended a few shades of blue DO ink, splattered them with water and  stamped the water rings before lifting the mask. stamped, colored and fussy cut the lotus flowers and stems,  popped up the flowers with foam tape, added the sentiment and my card was complete.

My TBT Project #2:

I made a mini slimline card for this one. I cut a sheet of Clarity Antarctica Designer Card Stock to fit the card front. I stamped, watercolored and fussy cut the lotus flowers and popped them up with foam tape. I stamped the sentiment on pale pink card stock, die cut it, and placed it over the stems to complete my card.

My TBT Project #3:

For this card, I played with 3 alcohol ink colors trying to create water and sky. I had a snippet from a yupo panel created with pink and red alcohol inks from another project. I used alcohol lift ink to stamp the lotus images, and fussy cut them out. I stamped the water rings on the "water" with alcohol lift ink, and popped up the lotus flowers to give them the appearance of floating. I love the STAMPlorations Dragonfly Layering Die  and thought it would be a great addition to my design, so I found a scrap for the butterfly wings that looked wonderful with the AI background, die cut the outline piece in black and popped it up above the flowers. I love the way this turned out.

Please be sure to visit the Throwback Thursday Post at STAMPlorations. Leave a comment for a chance to win a gift voucher. Leave a comment on my blog for another chance to win.

For my card, I focused on the women encircled in the fabric design of Kim's wonderful tote. I used my never before used Julie Ebersol's Voices In My Head stamp set from Ellen Hutson. I stamped, colored with Copics and fussy cut the main image of the bunned woman and popped her up on a gel print background. I used a speech bubble die from Paper Smooches, and stamped one of the sentiments from Voices In My Head Volume 3 by Julie Ebersole. I added some blue gems for a little bling, and my card was complete.

Celebrate

The CASology Week 394 Challenge Cue Card is MASK. For some reason, the cue prompted my mind to  travel deep within my stash to the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero December 2016 Card Kit and this little mask image. I have been feeling guilty about the size of my stash lately and vowing to stop buying new schtuff, but that is not working out so well. When I thought of this little image, I was bound and determined to use it, though it took me a while to solidify my design.

In the end, I used a die from Pinkfresh Studio Mini Essentials Slimline Bundle and embossed it on a Neenah Solar White 110# 4.25 x 5.5" card base. I stamped and die cut the masquerade mask image from the MMH kit on a piece og 6x6 American Crafts Glitzy Cardstock. I heat embossed the "celebrate" sentiment from the MMH kit with silver EP, and popped up the mask die cut. That was it. Very simple, and I love it.

Batty In Love

It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday where every challenge is an inspiration list based on a selected holiday/festivity from the traditional to the unusual. Challenge projects must include at least three items from the festivity inspiration list.

Since the Inspiration List is a mix of elements related to the festivity, the creator has the choice to make something for that festivity, or to ignore the festivity all together and create something just using three (or more) elements on the list.

Today's festivities are in celebration of International Bat Night, which takes place August 29th - August 30th. The challenge runs from August 6th to August 16th.

I like to create a card for our challenge that goes with the celebration theme. The background is patterned paper from a very old pack of Fall/Halloween papers from Creative Memories. I then used VersaMark Ink with Funky Fossil Bat Swarm stencil and heat embossed with black sparkly embossing powder. I decided to make the card a slimline to get the most out of the scene on the patterned paper. I added a bat stamp, die cut and sentiment from Paper Smooches Falling For You. It was a bit plain and dark, so I jazzed it up with a small piece of Washi. I used bats, night, black and moon from the inspo list.

Come play with us! Remember that your project does not have to go with the challenge theme. You can just use 3 or more items from the inspo list for your creation!
