Hello!

When I saw the AAA Cards Challenge #109 today, I was immediately drawn to it. The challenge is to  use die cuts ONLY, and of course keep it CAS. I immediately got my thinking cap on. I just got this new die from Concord & 9th and I decided it had everything I needed. I then looked for a color scheme inspiration, found the Just Us Girls Color Week challenge #428, and decided to go with it. It needed a little more umph, so I added the Hero Arts 12 Point Stars Infinity die behind the main image/die. I like the way that it affects the whole composition of the card.

I Love You

Love is in the air, and I have created this Valentine with CAS-ual Fridays stamps and dies, Zigs and some clear embossing powder. I used the colors of Color Throwdown 479, but was about a minute late to post my card in the gallery. That's OK. I love the way this card turned out and am glad to share it in a few places:

Let's Be Mermaids

It's time for a new challenge at Addicted To CAS. This time the code word is TEAL. My mind immediately went to mermaid. I love this mermaid's tail image so much and so I pulled it out, embossed it in silver, watercolored it with teal ink and popped it up on the scalloped rectangle. I love the silver and teal together, and the way the ink is heavier in some spots than others giving illusion of  movvement. I stamped the spatters with the teal ink and added the sentiment.

The ATCAS DT has created some wonderful inspiration pieces to get your creative juices flowing. Our Guest Designer is the wonderful and talented Gerrina of Gerrina's Creatieve Wereld. Gerrina's work is so unique and imaginative... go for a stroll through her blog. You will be so glad you did.
As always, our challenge is sponsored by Happy Little Stampers. Challenge winner will receive a $20 gift voucher for the Happy Little Stampers Store.

Dahlia Happy Birthday

Time for a new challenge at Time Out. Challenge #102 is a Home Sweet Home Challenge - a photo inspiration with a homey twist. I focused on the color scheme using gold and copper metallic inks along with black and dry embossing. The "happy" is die cut from copper metallic glitter paper, popped up on three layers of black, and inlaid into the stamped panel. I debated on whether to use gold or copper for the sentiment, but on the advice of my favorite in-house card critic (my 18 year old son, Greg), I went with the copper. It was very hard to capture the copper embossing on the little black banner in the photo, but it really looks great IRL.

The challenge runs from February 1 to February 14. Head on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog for all the details and to check out the awesome cards that the DT created for your inspiration. Guest designing with us for this challenge is the awesome and talented Trina of My Crafting Closet. Trina is a wonderful designer with a mad coloring and ink blending skills. Our sponsor is STAMPlorations. A winner will be drawn at random to receive a $15 gift voucher to spend at the STAMPlorations store.
