Pawsitively Fun!

Time Out Challenges #262 has just begun, and this time it is a photo challenge. This handmade bag in the photo is both our inspiration & our prize.

Here's an enlargement of the photo for viewing the marvelous detail within. Do note that you do not need to use a dog image to play along - you can, for example only be inspired by the colors, patterns or shapes you see in the photo, including other animals. We look forward seeing your creative takes!

We are welcome Cornelia Wenokor of Stempel-Spass and winner of Time Out #258 as our Guest Designer. Cornelia is such a talented card artist with a wicked sense of humor and a great eye for design and color. Please treat your self to a visit to her blog. You are in for a real treat and a good belly laugh!

This card morphed many times to get to the final product. I wanted to use Funky Fossil stamps and stencil to showcase these funky pups. In the end I made a collage of sorts framing them in this Pretty Pink Posh die cut. The twine is in homage to Julie Ebersole with her signature knots. Where is Julie these days? I found the perfect patterned paper in my stash to go with the colors with which I stamped and stenciled. I was quite pleased in the end, even though it took me forever to finish this one!

Please head over to the Time Out Challenge Blog to see what Cornelia and the Design Team have created to inspire you. Think about the photo, and see how it inspires you. Then grab some supplies and start creating. I can't wait to see your project in the gallery.

Remember, we allow links to a total of 5 challenges including ours. We also need you to tell us in your post, how you were inspired by the quote. Check out the rules in "how to play" on the sidebar of the challenge blog. See you in the gallery!

Let The Magic Happen

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out. It's a very special Photo Inspiration in which Sarah Gray, owner of Funky Fossil Designs, is both our sponsor and our muse for this "CASE The Designer" challenge. Sarah is a former Design Team Member of Time Out, and we are thrilled that she agreed to create an inspiration piece for our players to CASE.

If the word "CASE" is nor familiar to you, it means "copy and share everything". When you CASE someone's card, you have the designer's permission to be heavily inspired and influenced by their card... However the idea is not to completely recreate the card but to be inspired by it.

Here's a closer look of the card Sarah has made for us to CASE. You could for example CASE the layout of the card, be inspired by of the theme of Sarah's card, use her colors or similar style or images... Many possibilities!

Our wonderful sponsor is Sarah's own company,  Funky Fossil Designs.   They're generously offering a £25.00 store credit.

We are joined by Carol McFarland of Saw it. Had to Make It., and winner of Time Out #253 as Guest Designer. Please do yourself a favor and visit Carol's blog. She is a fabulous designer and you are sure to be inspired!

I used Funky Fossil image and sentiments for me card. I swiped a few distress ink pads in the colors from Sarah's card, onto the large splatter circle from Inkylicious and sprayed water on it. I stamped the amber color around the edges, then pressed it to the white cardstock. I then stamped the image of the woman and the sentiments and heat embossed them with clear EP. I mounted the white panel on black cardstock and my card was complete.

Please hop on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog to see the wonderful creations that Carol and the Design Team came up with to inspire you. Come play with us!

If The Broom Fits

Less Is More Challenge #454 begins today. We are challenged to create a ONE LAYER (no layers) CAS card with an autumnal theme.

I used Funky Fossil Designs Scribbbles stencil for my background and stamped the flying witch image from Picket Fence Studios If The Broom Fits stamp set on top of it. I then embossed with clear EP. The sentiment is from the same set, also clear embossed.

Please head over to the Less Is More Blog and see what the Design Team has created for your inspiration. I hope you'll play along with us to share your creations. Remember to keep your design Clean And Simple which we define as designs that include large areas of CLEAR AND CLEAN space with NO PATTERN, NO INK and NO TEXTURE See challenge guidelines on the Less Is More Blog.

Hexagon Hello

Less Is More Challenge #452 begins today. We are challenged to create a CAS card with hexagons in our design.

I made a mini slimline card with PinkFresh Studio Mini Slimline Essentials Bundle. My hexagons are stenciled with several shades of blue Distress Oxide Inks and Funky Fossil Designs Hexagonal 5.7" stencil. The sentiment is die cut using Winnie & Walter's The Big, The Bold & The Happy die set and black mirror card stock. Easy Peasy and I love the result.

With Brave Wings

Time Out #196 begins today, We are challenged to be BRAVE. The challenge runs from Thursday, September 9th  to September 22nd.

We are generously sponsored by Funky Fossil Designs.
Challenge winner will receive £15 gift voucher and will also be eligible for a guest designer spot in a future challenge.

Our guest designer for this challenge is Rahmat Gouse of Cards And Cooking Corner. Rahmat is also the winner of Time Out Challenge #193. Rahmat is an incredibly talented card artist. Please visit her blog and soak up the inspiration you are sure to experience.

For my card, I started with a gel plate background that I created a while ago. I used Funky Fossil She is Fierce stamp set with heat embossing and Copic coloring. Her wings are made from a stamp and die from Stampendous with some ink blending with PTI inks. I love the way this turned out, though is is quite a departure from my style of late.

Batty In Love

It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday where every challenge is an inspiration list based on a selected holiday/festivity from the traditional to the unusual. Challenge projects must include at least three items from the festivity inspiration list.

Since the Inspiration List is a mix of elements related to the festivity, the creator has the choice to make something for that festivity, or to ignore the festivity all together and create something just using three (or more) elements on the list.

Today's festivities are in celebration of International Bat Night, which takes place August 29th - August 30th. The challenge runs from August 6th to August 16th.

I like to create a card for our challenge that goes with the celebration theme. The background is patterned paper from a very old pack of Fall/Halloween papers from Creative Memories. I then used VersaMark Ink with Funky Fossil Bat Swarm stencil and heat embossed with black sparkly embossing powder. I decided to make the card a slimline to get the most out of the scene on the patterned paper. I added a bat stamp, die cut and sentiment from Paper Smooches Falling For You. It was a bit plain and dark, so I jazzed it up with a small piece of Washi. I used bats, night, black and moon from the inspo list.

Come play with us! Remember that your project does not have to go with the challenge theme. You can just use 3 or more items from the inspo list for your creation!

Celebrate New Beginnings

Less Is More Challenge #445 begins today. We are challenged to make a Clean and Simple card that features the colors pale blue and yellow.
I love this color combination, and immediately know that I wanted to use this floral image. I channeled my inner Izzy Scrap, and decided to make my card square. I stamped and clear embossed the floral image, colored it with Zigs, and die cut it. I lightly stenciled the left side of the card, stamped and clear embossed the sentiment, and popped the die cut floral piece with foam tape. I will use it as a retirement card for a dear friend who is starting a new chapter. I wish her every happiness, good health  and great adventures.

Please head over to the Less Is More Blog and see what the Design Team has created for your inspiration. I hope you'll play along with us to share your creations. Remember to keep your design Clean And Simple. See challenge guidelines on the Less Is More Blog.

Supplies:
Stamps ~ Pinkfresh Studio Heart & Soul; Pinkfresh Studio - Mt Favorite Things To Say
Ink ~ VersaFine Onyx Black; Catherine Pooler It's A Boy
Accessories ~ Pinkfresh Studio Heart & Soul Die; Funky Fossil Knitted Background Stencil; Wow clear embossing powder

My favorite style is CAS, but I have grown into it. I used to love lots of layers and embellishments, but now I appreciate the "less is more" mentality. It's a big challenge to me to make a big artistic statement with a clean and simple design.

Earth Day

It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday where every challenge is an inspiration list based on a selected holiday/festivity from the traditional to the unusual. Challenge projects must include at least three items from the festivity inspiration list.

Since the Inspiration List is a mix of elements related to the festivity, the creator has the choice to make something for that festivity, or to ignore the festivity all together and create something using just the three (or more) elements selected.

Today's festivities are in celebration of Earth Day, which is celebrated on April 22nd. The challenge runs from April 2 - April 12.

I like to create a card for our challenge that goes with the celebration. For my Earth Day-themed card, I pulled out these stamps and dies from Taylored Expressions: The World Is Waiting stamp set, and Whole Wide World and Little Bits - Bandage dies. I stenciled the lower right corner with Harlequin Background mini stencil from Funky Fossil Designs. I used green, blue and earth/globe from the inspo list.

BE you TIFUL

Time Out Challenge #183 begins today, and challenge is for us to be DIFFERENT. This could be interpreted in many ways like stepping out of your comfort zone in your card making style, clothing style, food that is different for you to eat, etc. Use your imagination and show us your being different in your creation for this challenge. Have fun!

Our challenge runs from Thursday, March 11th to Wednesday, March 24th. Our wonderful sponsor is Funky Fossil Designs. Challenge winner will receive at $15.00 gift voucher to the Funky Fossil Designs Shop.

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is Lisa Petrella of Paper Mountain Parcels. Lisa is a very talented card maker whose style is largely CAS and often reflects her life as a Coloradan in her creations. Treat yourself to a visit to her wonderful blog, and show her some love. You will be full of inspiration after your visit.

To create my card, I stepped out of my comfort zone once again as I have been trying to do more of lately in my cards. Funky Fossil Designs lends encouragement to me for that purpose. I took one of the gel press backgrounds that I had created with Distress Oxide Inks, stamped an image from Funky Fossil Lotus Reflections stamp set directly onto it with VersaFine Onyx Black ink, and heat embossed it with clear EP. I stamped the lotus flower onto a scrap from a different gel press panel, heat embossed it with clear EP, fussy cut it out and popped it up on top of the lotus flower image on the larger stamped image. I die cut the panel with Spellbinders Hemstitch dies, and added a sentiment from the same stamp set and heat embossed it with Rose Gold EP to go with the rose colored lotus flower. I mounted the top panel on a black card base, and my card was complete.

This one is in honor of women everywhere. I have been enjoying working with my students to raise awareness of the awesome power of women in the world. I asked my Kinder students today to tell the class about a woman in their lives they'd like to honor. One little girl raised her hand, pointed at me and said, "you". Made me a little misty, I must say!

Life Is A Blank Canvas

It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday where every challenge is an inspiration list based on a selected holiday/festivity from the traditional to the unusual. Challenge projects must include at least three items from the festivity inspiration list.

 -

Since the Inspiration List is a mix of elements related to the festivity, the creator has the choice to make something for that festivity, or to ignore the festivity all together and create something using just the three (or more) elements selected.

Today's festivities are in celebration of International Women's Day, which is celebrated on March 8th. The challenge runs from February 19 - March 1.

For my Women-themed project, I used: heart, girls/women, lipstick. I really wanted to push myself to do something out of my comfort zone for this one - and also something loving and encouraging. I decided to make a card with a mixed media collage design. I recently bought a wonderful array of stamps and stencils from Funky Fossil Designs. I used a gel press panel that I created a while ago for my background and built on the design from there. I am super pleased with the way it came out.

Supplies Used:

Accessories~Spellbinders Hemstitch Rectangle Dies
