You're So Cool!

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out. Challenge #240 is a theme challenge where we are challenged to be "sportive". I must say, that I had never heard of this word before, and so I had to Google to find a definition. It's a little hard to read on our badge, so here it is:

This offers us a lot of creative opportunity!

We are generously sponsored by Newton's Nook Designs. Winner will receive a $25 store credit and an invitation to Guest Design with Time Out for a future challenge.

We are joined by Carol McFarland of Saw it. Had to Make It. Carol is a very talented maker with such a great eye for color and design. I love Carol's work and am always inspired by it. Please treat yourself to a stroll through her blog and you will surely be inspired too!

I used Newton's Summer Treats stamps & Dies for my card. Newton is so playful, lively and spirited in whatever Newton does. I gave Newton a popsicle theme, but honestly, it's a bit too busy for my liking. I think the pop would have popped if I used a color for the background. Blue perhaps? I ran out of time so I went with it... Maybe I will make it again.

Please head on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog to see the wonderful creations that the Design Team came up with to inspire you. Come play with us!

Pineapple Thanks

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out. Challenge #239 is a photo inspiration challenge - photo above. I thought long and hard about this one, and in the end, I zeroed in on that copper pineapple on the top shelf of this cart. I embossed mine with copper EP, die cut it and placed it on pineapple patterned paper. My sentiment is hot foiled in silver, which "mirrors" the top shelf of the cart. For my layout, I used the FMS Sketch that closed on 5/22, but I loved the sketch so I used it even though I could not enter this card in that challenge.

We are generously sponsored by Picket Fence Studios. Winner will receive a $25 store credit (which must be used within 90 days of the winners post).

We are so excited to welcome Joyce Merhrberg, our former teammate and winner of Time Out #236 as Guest Designer for this challenge. Joyce is such a talented card artist with a largely CAS style. She especially loves cityscapes, dogs, books and scenes. Take a stroll through her blog or Instagram and be prepared to be inspired!

Color Hues Happy Birthday

I love these colors and am so happy I had a little time to play in my craft room today. I smooshed 3 orange Distress Oxide inks on to a piece of watercolor paper, then sprayed it with Color Shine. When dry, I die cut it with Concord & 9th's Potpourri Die. I cut it a second time from SU Basic Gray and glued the two together slightly askew. I glued the die cuts to  Basic Gray card base and added a foiled, die cut sentiment from my snippet box. To finish I glued some bling from Gina K and my card was complete.

Believe In Yourself

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out. Challenge #238 is an Inspired By Words challenge where the words are "Dare to love yourself as if you were a rainbow with gold at both ends."

We are generously sponsored by Varada Sharma. We will have 2 winners - one chosen by the Design Team, and one chosen at random. Winners will receive a $15.00 store credit to shop at Varada's store.

This time we welcome Greta Hess of GG Creations, and winner of Time Out #235, as our Guest Designer. Greta really captured the essence of our quote so beautifully. Do take a stroll through Greta's blog and treat yourself to some wonderful inspiration.

I used Varada's 12 Point Mandala image, and Copic colored it in rainbow colors. The sentiment is from a stamp set that was a collaboration between Hero Arts and Honey bee called You Are Amazing. I thought it went perfectly with the quote. I heat embossed it in gold (though it looks black in the picture), gave it a black mat, mounted that on a white card base, and my card was complete.

Hope Your Birthday Is A Splash!

I have been very busy trying to get my stash weeded, inventoried and cataloged. I have not been creating very much as I am trying to get this enormous project behind me, but today I was checking out my favorite challenges. I just had to drop everything and play at Just Us Girls where the current challenge is to CASE one of the designers. ALL of the cards are fabulous, but when I saw Carol Mc's card, I knew right where I had to go.

This is Carol's card. I absolutely LOVE it!

I was inspired by her multicultural women on floats in fashionable bathing suits and hats. What a fabulous take on Time Out's Fashionable Challenge too! I used Avery Elle's Splash stamps and dies to float my women friends on their donut tubes in a lovely pool with water compliments of MFT's Perfect Pool Water Stencil. I used Pretty Pink Posh's Grid Stencil to create a patio around the pool. I had a blast making this, and I just love the way Carol inspired me with her creation.

Too Glam To Give A Damn

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out. Challenge #237 challenges us to be FASHIONABLE. Think clothing, design, color trends - even food fashion. Let your imagination run free!

We are generously sponsored by AALL & Create.
Challenge Winner will receive a $20.00 store credit and an invitation to Guest Design with the Time Out Design Team for a future challenge.

We welcome Arlene Rose of Sunday Stamper Papercrafts and Winner of Time Out #234 as our Guest Designer for this challenge. Arlene is a very talented crafter with a style that is often CAS. She has awesome coloring skills. Please visit her blog for some great inspiration. She would welcome your comments on her creations!

I stepped waaaaaay out of my comfort zone on this one when I decided to go with a mixed media creation to showcase AALL & Create's Fashionable Miss Dee. She just cracks me up and was the perfect image for our challenge. I used powdered inks, stencils, Lunar Paste and white ink to create my gel print background. I die cut and foam mounted the background on 110lb cardstock. I stamped, colored and popped up Miss Dee and the sentiment, and my card was complete.

Read. Relax. Repeat.

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out. Challenge #236 is a Theme Challenge in celebration of World Book Day. The enjoyment of reading books is celebrated on World Book Day on April 23 in over 100 countries, and  on the first Thursday in March in the UK. It’s a day to celebrate the privilege of being able to read, so head to the library or curl up on the couch and just be a bookworm!

We are generously sponsored by Newton's Nook. Challenge Winner will receive a $25.00 store credit and an invitation to Guest Design with the Time Out Design Team for a future challenge.

We welcome Trina Pham as our Guest Designer. Trina's work is so inspiring. Do yourself a favor and head over to her blog and have a look. You are sure to be inspired!

I rarely use stickers in my card making, but this New ton was the inspiration for the design of my card. As I thought about how to use it, I got the idea to mimic the background of the sticker sheet. I inked the SSS Falling Hearts stencil and some colored card stock to get that effect. To give the background some texture, I stamped the card base with VersaMark and heat embossed it using the Hero Arts Book Stacks Background Stamp and my card was complete.
