You Are Amazing

The featured technique over at CAS Mix Up for July is Stencil Tracing. This is a new one to me and I wanted to give it a whirl. Basically you outline with the stencil left on your image or free hand
outline with the stencil removed.

Funky Fossil Designs Seahorse Stencil and Mask seemed to be a great choice for this technique, plus I wanted to try layered stenciling, and the Seahorse was a good choice for that too. I began by blending Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass DO ink on Neenah Solar white 80# Card Stock. I then placed Hero Arts Abstract Waves Stencil over the Seahorse aperture and blended Chipped Sapphire DO over top of that. I removed that stencil and laid Dylusions Small Bubbles Stencil on the Seahorse aperture and sprayed it generously with Imagine Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray. When I removed the bubbles stencil, I traced around the edges of the Seahorse with a Copic 0.2 Multiliner. I was thrilled with the way it came out. I debated whether to give my funky seahorse a googly eye, but I left it alone in the true spirit of CAS. I thought hard about what sentiment to use, and finally settled on this one from The Ton's Pyrotechnics set. I die cut the panel with a Lawn Fawn Scalloped Rectangle Stackables die, backed it with fun foam and mounted it on Gina K. Designs Base Weight Turquoise Sea Card Stock.

Happy Halloween!

I am thrilled to be posting a second card as CAS Mix Up Guest Designer for the Mid-Challenge post of the CAS Mix Up September 2019 Challenge where the theme is inchies. There is still time to play this challenge hosted by Joanna open until September 24th at midnight PDT. All of the details and instructions are on the CAS Mix Up Blog

I love the CAS Mix Up Challenge because it often encourages me to try things I have never tried before. The Design Team is comprised of super talented crafters, and their projects are always incredibly inspiring. I am thrilled to crafting along with them for this challenge.

Creating with inchies is a new for me. I decided to use dry embossing to make my inchies. I cut four 1" squares (wouldn't you know my 1" square Nestabilities die went missing somewhere along the way) and laid them right up against eachother in a row, inside a spiderweb embossing folder. After running it through the Cuttlebug, I inked the debossed side of the squares with Black Soot DO Ink. I mounted them on black cardstock and glued them on to my card base. I added a glittery spider with foam tape for dimension. Funny as I look at said spider, I see that I must have positioned its butt end a little off the glitter paper before I punched! Poor thing. I will replace that before the card goes in the mail. LOL!!! The sentiment is from Picket Fence Studios If The Broom Fits set and stamped with SU Pumpkin Pie ink.

Please head over to the CAS Mix Up blog and check out the awesome creations that the Design Team has made for your inspiration. Remember, this is a Mixed Media CAS Challenge. Challenge Winner will be invited to be a Guest Designer for a future challenge.

Bonjour

I am super excited to be posting today as Guest Designer for the September 2019 CAS Mix Up Challenge where the theme is "inchies". Click HERE for full challenge details. I am absolutely honored to be designing along with these incredibly talented artists.

For my card, I decided to use the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Duo 3 Die as the apertures measure 1" square.  I found the perfect stamps in my stash from way back - an Impression Obsession set that doesn't even have a name on it. There are 8 images that are all 1" square. I inked four of them with various PTI inks, and stamped them on the 1" square die cuts. I inlaid them in the negative spaces of the PPP die.

I positioned the "bonjour" sentiment from Heffy Doodle's Hello Everyone set onto the Stitched Duo 3 die cut and stamped it using my MISTI. I removed the die cut, placed the card base in my MISTI positioning it so that the sentiment would be where I wanted it and stamped the sentiment with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink. I then applied foam tape to the back of the die cut and adhered it to the card base matching the two stamped sentiments together. This achieved the effect of the sentiment going over the edge of the die cut, with the placement making the sentiment look continuous.

Happy Birthday

I have just recently tried Alcohol Inks and I am in love. I have just learned to do the alcohol ink lift technique and had to squeak in at the last minute to join in the CAS Mix Up July 2019 Challenge. For my card, I used the Alcohol Ink Lift technique, Alcohol Inks, Yupo paper and Stamping.

I wish I could buy Yupo paper in bulk so I could make a million projects with this technique. If you know of a source, please do let me know. I LOVE doing this. Thank you Jennifer McGuire and Inklipse for your tutorials.

We Mermaid To Be Friends

I have a thing about mermaids. They seem to be very popular in the crafting world these days, and I have collected a wonderful combination of mermaid-themed stamps and dies. I am having a blast with them. For this card, I created a background with DOX inks that was perfect for under the sea. I die cut it with the Memory Box Coral Collage die. Inside the die cut, I placed a gorgeous piece of tissue paper from the Hero Arts May 2017 monthly kit. I used the stencil from the same kit to dry emboss the wave background on the white cardbase. The mermaid tail and sentiment is from Ellen Hutson's Essentails by Ellen Clear Stamps Mermaid's Tail by Julie Ebersole. The tail is heat embossed on heat resistant acetate and die cut. It shows the gorgeous tissue paper behind it.  I just love this card.

Beautiful

The new game is up on the AAA Cards Challenge Blog. This time it's "Anything Goes".  I am still playing with my Brushos and loving the magic. I used the mono printing technique for my creation. I had used the honeycomb stencil and Brushos on another project, and made sure that I got paint on the negative.  I flipped the stencil and pressed it on to the watercolor paper, and got this beautiful effect. Once dry, I sprayed the entire panel lightly with Tattered Angels Gold spray mist. I die cut the butterfly (PTI) from velum and gold adhesive paper (PTI), popped it up on the card and bent the wings upward a bit.

The sentiment is from Concord & 9th's Beautiful Words and Beautiful You dies. I am loving learning and trying new things, and I'm very pleased with the way this one turned out.

Please head on over to the AAA Cards Challenge Blog and check out the designs of my fabulously talented fellow DT members. Leave them some love, then create something wonderful and link up to our challenge. Our sponsor this week is Happy Little Stampers, with a $20.00 gift certificate for the challenge winner.
