Home Again

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out. For Time Out #293, we are challenged to be inspired by our favorite song in our projects.

We are generously sponsored by lawn fawn with a $25.00 Store Credit for our Challenge winner as chosen by the Design Team.

Well, I think for many people, it is impossible to pick one favorite song. For me, there is one that stands out in my very long list of favorites because it holds such in incredibly special place in my heart and soul. The song is called Home Again by Batdorf & Rodney, released in 1971. Later in the 70's, I was in a band playing guitar and dulcimer and sharing the lead singing. My bandmates were incredible musicians. We did this song often as a finale. It always filled me with so much joyful emotion when we were performing it. The music & lyrics were so special to me and we sang in tight harmonies. This was surely a favorite part of my life. So this is the song I chose for my favorite. It is in my iTunes and I am known to sing it at the top of my lungs quite often while driving with the windows open. I truly love this song.

Please head on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog where you can see what the Design Team has cleverly created for your inspiration. Come play with us! I can't wait to see what favorite songs are chosen for the projects in the gallery. PLEASE mention the song you chose in your post, and we'd love to know the story about why you chose it.

This is a wonderful card Stephanie and a wonderful story! I love that photo of teenaged you and I would love to hear you singing this at the top of your lungs while driving with the windows open (road trip around Europe??)! This group must not have made it big in Oz in the early 70s because I hadn't heard of them before today but will look out for them in the future! Folk songs in the 70s had such great harmonic possibilities didn't they!
Hugs, Kate!

Wow, what a gorgeous background you've given that sweet simple focal panel! This is a marvelous card, Stephanie. I don't know the song, but sure would love to have heard you sing it!

I'm probably dating myself but I've never heard of the song or the singers but I'm glad it has such meaning to you, Stephanie. The fact you sang in a band is impressive and also that you played the dulcimer although I suspect it was a lap one. I play the hammered one. I should say 'played' because I haven't taken it out of the case in three years. Now to the card. The floral background sets the tone for the labels and ombre' inked HOME. What a lovely card and sentiment!

Oh, I just love this photo and so happy you shared. How amazing that you were in a band (and I love the dulcimer!). Your card is simply fabulous and I love your ombré effect and that background. Thanks for playing along with my sketch this week at FMS!
