Easter Joy

Time for another CAS challenge over at AAA Cards and this time the theme is Easter Colors.  Remember, AAA Cards are alway CAS.  Please go on over for a look and play along.  Here is my take:

I had these wonderful Memory Box egg dies in my stash - more "Never Before Used Schtuff", so I dragged them out along with some DP that has been sitting for a while, to make this card.  The sentiment is from a Verve set I have had for a long while as well.  I dressed it up with some satin ribbon and called it a card! I debated whether to color the word "JOY", but I left it alone, and I am good with that.

Since I was digging deep into my stash for this one, I just had to send this over to Darnell Krauss's NBUS Challenge:

Also entering in ColourQ 284:

Thank you for your visit.  Hope it is getting springy where you are.  Still pretty cold here in the northeast.  Hope springs eternal...

Joyous Easter

I found this adorable Easter confetti and of course, I had to make a shaker card with it.  I was inspired by the following challenges to come up with this fun creation:

Happy Easter

The jelly beans in this week's Curtain Call Challenge put me in mind of this gorgeous Easter Eggs BG stamp from Peddler's Pack that I have had for 8 years have never used. The Retro Sketches sketch for this week was perfect to showcase my image.  And it goes without saying that this creation is a perfect fit for Darnell Krauss's NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) Challenge.  Darnell is a very talented crafter/blogger/comedienne.  Stop by her blog for a truly delightful experience, and play her NBUS Challenge

I embossed my image with gold EP, then sponged it with Distress Inks.  I then colored bits and pieces of the eggs with water color pencils using the brush to pencil tip method.  The stitched banner is from Lil Inkers, and the image (another NBUS item) is from PTI's Egg Hunt set.

Thank you so much for coming by for a visit. I always appreciate your views and your comments. Have a great day.

She Art

I met a wonderful woman while I was looking at blogs and commenting on the wonderful work that I saw.  We exchanged lovely comments about eachother's work, and even a little of our life's philosophy.  I LOVE it when that happens!  I also learned something new from my new friend, C.  Do you know what "She Art" is?  The challenge over at the Inkspirational Challenge Blog is She Art or an image of a woman.

If you are curious as I was, click HERE to get to Christy Tomlinson's blog.  From what I can tell, she is a She Art expert, and you can get a good idea of what it is all about.

Anyway, after I made this discovery, I was compelled to figure out a way to play this challenge.  I suddenly remembered some collage stamps from Hero Arts that I have had for a very long time and never used.  I pulled them out, and there was no turning back.  Although there is no woman or girl in the image, and this isn't really She Art, I think it works for the challenge. I heat embossed the image  in black, sponged it with Distress Inks, and gave it a spritz of gold shine with Gold Color Shine Spray from Heidi Swapp.  I thought about some words that would be fitting wishes for a special girl in my life.  So I typed the words Wisdom, Confidence, Strength, Dignity, Nurture and Love on my computer, making the type white and the background black.  I printed them on card stock, cut them out, covered with Glossy Accents and adhered to the sponged panel.  I then used a sentiment from Alt&New's Label Love set to finish it off.  Here is the end result:

The gold shine spray really looks fabulous on this card, but I could not capture it in the photo.  I am so happy that I learned something new.   She Art - who knew? Now I do, and I really like the way my attempt at this turned out.  Really took me out of my comfort zone.

Bare Naked CAS

This week and every week at AAA Cards, CAS is always the game.  This week's challenge is to make a CAS card that is VERY clean and VERY simple! Plenty of white space.  One layer if you can. There's a prize this week for the top 3,  AND a guest designer spot for the winner, so please go on over to AAA Cards Game #35, and link up your bare naked CAS creation! If you like what you see, please spread  the word!

This is my take. The images and sentiment are from PTI.  The bamboo is embossed for a nice pop on this one layer card.  The embossing affect is not really visible in this picture, but in "real life", it really makes a difference in interest and texture. Thank you, as always, for coming by.  Have a beautiful day.

Lucky

My card below worked for many challenges this week with St. Paddy's Day coming up - lots o' green, gold, luck, shine...  I chose three challenges for my inspiration for this card.  I started with  Curtain Call which has a theme of "Lucky".  Here is my take:

Pals Paper Arts Challenge #242 is a color challenge with the colors green, gold and black.  I went with that and threw in a touch of rainbow just for fun.  I cut the word "lucky" in 4 different papers and I wasn't totally happy with any of them until I tried a scrap of watercolor paper on which I had painted rainbow colors for my AAA card last week.  That was perfect. I used all of the die cuts I had previously cut to build up the "ky" because the "luc" sat higher on the shaker.  The gold layer gave it a nice gold tinge.

Pretty Pink Posh's first challenge launched this week, and the theme is Sparkle & Shine.  I found these fun shamrock and gold coin confetties recently.  They are very sparkly & shiny, so there you go.  Perfect for this challenge.  Of course, I ended up with a shaker card because that is what I do with confetti these days.  I love it.

I am on a bit of a roll lately.  It's because of all the snow and bitter cold we have had - let me get in my craft space more than usual.  Thank you so much for coming by.  Have a wonderful day.

CMCC #61 - Leap Of Faith

This week's theme for CMCC #61 over at the Colour Me! Challenge blog is Monochromatic using Tangelo Twist.  This is my take.  I am loving the PTI A Little Inspiration set, and thought a simple card featuring this sentiment would make a great card for a friend who is amidst a bit of a struggle.  I am also loving the new Sheer Basics Vellum from PTI.  Love the warmth of the orange.  It's been a rough winter!

Thanks for coming by. Have a wonderful day!

CQC #282 - Hello

I really pulled out a lot of things from my stash for this one!  I happened to have both SU blues - both retired - AND the matching markers for them. When I looked at the inspiration photo, the Tipped Tops Die from PTI came to mind.  Then the flowers reminded me of a beautiful set of flowers by Joanna Sheen - Summer Flowers For Pots.  I paper pieced the larger flowers and colored in the small ones. These stamps are very special as they were sent to me by a dear friend in England. The vintage look made me pull out some Tea Die distress ink. I also used yellow Stickles in the centers of the flowers which is hard to see on this pic.  The yellow rhinestone - also from stash that has been sitting forever.  Very pleased with this one.  Thanks of coming over to take a look!  Check out the beautiful creations at Colour Q this week! Have a great weekend.
