Salty But Sweet

Time Out Challenge #179 begins today.  We are challenged to create a card inspired by the word "YOU"! Create a card that says something about YOU. This could be your favorite card-making style, favorite food, movie, book...

Our sponsor for this challenge is Stamplorations

STAMPlorations is offering a prize of a $25 gift voucher for our winner!
Additionally, the winner will be asked to be the Guest Designer for a future challenge.

Our Guest Designer this week is Anila. Be sure to visit her awesome blog and show her some love.

Nothing says "me" more than anything related to the sea. I always say that I was a mermaid in a former life. My place of peace is the beach. My favorite sound is ocean waves crashing on the sand. My favorite day is a day at the beach. So, I created a card with ocean waves and a mermaid tail using Essentials By Ellen Inner Mermaid stamps and die by Julie Ebersole.  It is very ME!

Please hop on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog to see the wonderful creations that Anila and the Design Team came up with to inspire you. Come play with us!

Addicted To CAS Challenge #141 is up and running with code word: SUMMERTIME.

For my card, I created a background on watercolor paper with Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers. I heat embossed the mermaid's tail from Essentials By Ellen Inner Mermaid in silver on vellum, die cut it with a matching die, mounted it on the watercolor background and added the sentiment.

Have An Awesome Brithday

I made this card for a DT friend who has been so welcoming, friendly, kind, and generous to me as I began a new DT gig and beyond. I heat embossed this awesome mermaid's tail in silver, and colored it with Copics. I placed it on a background that I made with Distress Oxide Inks and plastic wrap, sprayed it with shimmer spray and die cut it with a scalloped rectangle die.
I adhered a seaweed die cut and the tail, added the sentiment banner, and voila! The background came out beautifully. It looks to me like what you would see under water when the sun is shining above. I love this one!

Make Waves

I simply can not get enough of this mermaid tail from Julie Ebersole's Mermaid's Tail set from Ellen Hutson... I don't think I have ever used a single stamp more than I have used this one! This time I embossed the tail in gold on the card base, and die cut the top panel placing the aperture over the embossed tail.  I had used the stencil for another card. Afterwards, I left the distress inks on the stencil, sprayed it with water, and pressed it to a panel of watercolor paper. I love the soft, "foamy" effect. This card was made for a friend who needs a lot of support and encouragement right now. I just love the sentiments included in this set, and I thought these that I stamped on the inside were just perfect.

No Grit, No Pearl.

This Mermaid's Tail set from Ellen Hutson by Julie Ebersole is getting a lot of use in my craft room. I LOVE it. I made this card for a craft gathering where each participant created 2 similar cards to share. It was a wonderful day. I used some techniques that were new to me on this one.  If you look closely, you can see some feint embossing on the DOX background. I used the stencil from Hero Arts May Card Kit for the embossing. This is a new technique to me, and I am using it frequently right now. I also used water to stamp the sea bubbles (Designs By Ryn) on the DOX ink background. I LOVE the effect. There is so much wonderful color and texture on this card. It's a keeper... or maybe a sender...

We Mermaid To Be Friends

I have a thing about mermaids. They seem to be very popular in the crafting world these days, and I have collected a wonderful combination of mermaid-themed stamps and dies. I am having a blast with them. For this card, I created a background with DOX inks that was perfect for under the sea. I die cut it with the Memory Box Coral Collage die. Inside the die cut, I placed a gorgeous piece of tissue paper from the Hero Arts May 2017 monthly kit. I used the stencil from the same kit to dry emboss the wave background on the white cardbase. The mermaid tail and sentiment is from Ellen Hutson's Essentails by Ellen Clear Stamps Mermaid's Tail by Julie Ebersole. The tail is heat embossed on heat resistant acetate and die cut. It shows the gorgeous tissue paper behind it.  I just love this card.

An Ocean Of Thanks

I am honored to be Guest Designer at Happy Little Stampers July Watercolor ChallengeHappy Little Stampers July Watercolor Challenge which is:

My card has lots of colors, but it is an ocean scene, hence the blue. All of the elements are from the Hero Arts May 2017 Card Kit. I am in a mermaid state of mind these days, and I love this kit. So many wonderful images, dies, papers, inks, embellishments, etc.

The background of the shaker is made with iridescent turquois silk liquid ink dropped on wet watercolor paper. The effect is awesome! The swirl tissue placed on top of it mutes the intensity of the background a bit, but I love the way it looks. I cut the coral and sea ferns from watercolored snippets. The rest of the images are watercolored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

Please head over to the Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge Blog and see what the Design Team has created for your inspiration. Grab your favorite watercolor medium(s) and create something fabulous for the HLS July Watercolor Challenge!
