Have An Awesome Brithday

I made this card for a DT friend who has been so welcoming, friendly, kind, and generous to me as I began a new DT gig and beyond. I heat embossed this awesome mermaid's tail in silver, and colored it with Copics. I placed it on a background that I made with Distress Oxide Inks and plastic wrap, sprayed it with shimmer spray and die cut it with a scalloped rectangle die.
I adhered a seaweed die cut and the tail, added the sentiment banner, and voila! The background came out beautifully. It looks to me like what you would see under water when the sun is shining above. I love this one!

Something Incredible

My twin sons just graduated from High School. They both love to receive a handmade card from the mama. This is Greg's card. I so love Tim Holtz's Bird Crazy stamps and dies, and this one reminds me of my brilliant and sometimes kooky son... He is ready to discover the universe. I am trying to get ready for both of them to fly the coop, and it is not an easy task. LOL.

For my creation, I used Distress Oxide inks, acetate and a spritzer to create the background on watercolor paper. I added white spatters with Ecoline White Liquid Watercolor which is fabulous for this purpose. The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti's Shine From Within.

Hats Off To You

My twin boys graduated from High School on Friday. A new chapter begins. They still love and appreciate a hand made card. I used Avery Elle's Hats Off stamps and dies along with Numbered Balloons Elle-Ments to create this card for Jon.

You Are Tougher

Addicted To CAS Challenge #139 is up and running with code word: GIRL POWER.

To create my card, I used acetate and three Distress Oxide inks in shades of pink to create my background. After it dried, I stamped the sentiment from SimonSaysStamp Hand Lettered Encouragement set with VersaFine Inyx Black ink, die cut the watercolor panel with Avery Elle Wonky Stitches and adhered it to the card base.

For my card, I turned the heat up a notch and used the grill from Paper Smooches Alfresco stamp set for my main image. I then die cut a circle on the side of a panel of bandana patterned paper from my stash of Stampin' Up DP of long ago, added a sentiment strip, and that was it.

Give Thanks For Unknown Blessings

Time Out Challenge #111 is up and running. The theme is Holidays with an optional twist of a one layer card. There is a story behind my card. "Holidays" can mean days on the calendar on which specific things are celebrated like Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc. For some, the word "holidays" means a vacation or getaway.

So in thinking about what I would do here, my favorite (American) holiday, Thanksgiving, came to mind immediately. It is a time to reflect with gratitude, to share time and food with friends and family, and celebrate the harvest. My very dear friend, Sandie Munro, Administrator Extraordinaire of the Time Out Challenge, sent me this wonderful Stamplorations Unknown Blessings - Typographia stamp. When I saw it, I immediately know I would use it for a Thanksgiving card. Thank you Sandie, for this lovely gift.

I masked the portion where the sentiment is stamped, then I embossed it with brown EP. Even though I prepared the surface, some smudges appeared there. I tried to cover them up with leaf sequins, but that made it too busy, so I had to cut out the masked part and emboss the sentiment again. I lined up a few layers of the piece with the sentiment. I think it looks great, but it does not meet the one layered part of the challenge as I had intended. I just ran out of time, so here we are!

Our guest designer for this challenge is Ishani. Please check our her wonderful work. You are sure to be inspired!

Joy

It's a new month and that means a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge! The twist for June is JOY.  To create my card, I stamped Hero Arts Snowflake Pattern Bold Prints with Versa Mark Ink on a panel of water color paper that had been water colored with shades of green. I heat embossed with white embossing powder and die cut the entire panel with a scalloped rectangle die. I then used Winnie and Walter Joy Cutaway to die cut the water colored panel and red metallic paper. I inlaid the word in the snowflake panel and mounted the embossed panel on white cardstock.
