Merry Warm & Cozy Christmas

Today I kept going back and forth between decorating (in a minimalist way) and card making. I was fishing in my Christmas stash and spending way too much time looking at things and putting things away, when I found this awesome snippet - the heat embossed, inked and die cut "merry" above, and the juices started flowing. The simplest card took me forever, but that's OK. I really like the way it turned out. The current Alphabet Challenge is "Q is for Quilt", and that inspired me to take out my NBUS Sparkling Diamonds Cutting Die which is so reminiscent of a quilt pattern. Topped it with my wonderful snippet, foiled a sentiment and popped that up, added some bling and my card was complete.

Supplies Used:
Ink - None
Paper - Gina K Pure Luxury Red Velvet Heavy Base Weight card stock;  Hammermill 100# Premium Copy Cover card stock
Other - PinkFresh Studio Sparkling Diamonds Stand Alone Cuts; Concord & 9th Merry Die; Kaiser adhesive backed Rhinestones; Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System; Spellbinders Glitter Wishes Hot Foil Plates and cutting die; Glimmer Red hot foil; foam tape.

Happy Thanksgiving

A new challenge starts today at Can You Handle The Pressure? where the theme is always Anything Goes with an Embossing Folder and an optional twist. Heat embossing is welcome, but not required. An Embossing Folder must be used. For this challenge, the twist is "Thanks".

For my background, I used Spellbinders Carved Tile Embossing Folder with SU More Mustard card stock. The corn, sentiment and sentiment banner are from Papertrey Ink's Kind Of Corny stamp set and dies. (Thank you, dear friend, for sending the die cuts.)  If anyone has this die set and want to sell it, please let me know!

Please head over to the Can You Handle The Pressure Challenge? blog to check out the Design Team inspiration projects. You are sure to be impressed (pun intended)! Then dive into your embossing folder collection and join us with or without the twist! Just be sure to use an embossing folder on your creation!

Thanksgiving 2022

Thanksgiving is my most favorite day of the year. When I was a little girl, the day before was for polishing silverware. My mother would prepare pie crusts and put them in the car in the garage, as there was no room in the fridge. Stuffing was made, potatoes were peeled and left in a pot of water on the back porch. It was always cold out, but never freezing, so outside was a second fridge as long as whatever was out there was protected from the squirrels and other critters. My sister, Barbara, would always assemble the cornucopia and we would always make place cards. It was always my parents, my 3 sisters and my Aunt Gina and Uncle Pat at our Thanksgiving table, but there were always place cards. I have carried that tradition of making place cards all of my life. I save them from year to year, and it strikes me lately that it seem that each year, a place card or two from the prior year is for someone who has passed. This is the batch of place cards for this year. Feeling grateful for many things, though this year has been a very tough one. We pause, we gather, we hug and we hope. Wishing you a peaceful Thanksgiving. Take time to smell the turkey. Happy Thanksgiving.

CAS Outdoor Christmas

Less Is More #478 starts today and ends on December 1st. This is the last Less Is More challenge until March 2023. There is also a DT call going on. Please see the Less Is More Blog for details.

We are challenged to create a Clean & Simple
card with the theme of "outdoors".

I stenciled part of the Memory Box Garden Birch Trees Stencil with PTI Soft Stone ink on matching card stock. I added 2 stamped, die cut images and a sentiment from Hero Arts Color Layering Snowy Tree stamp set, mounted the Soft Stone panel on a SU Cherry Cobbler card base, and my card was complete.

Please head over to the Less Is More Blog and see what the Design Team has created for your inspiration. I hope you'll play along with us to share your creations. Remember to keep your design Clean And Simple which we define as designs that include large areas of CLEAR AND CLEAN space with NO PATTERN, NO INK and NO TEXTURE See challenge guidelines on the Less Is More Blog.

Hot Diggity Dog!

Time Out Challenge #227 begins today. This time we have a photo inspiration challenge. Our sponsor for this challenge is one of our very own designers, Kim, of RunningStitchDesign! Challenge winner will receive the handmade bag that is the inspiration for our challenge.

Here is an enlargement of the photo.

When I saw Kim's bag, I immediately thought of the Clever Sausage stamp set by Julie Ebersole. I was inspired by a card Julie made and took it in another direction for my card. My cityscape is from Kat Scrappiness backed with holographic paper from Sizzix. I paper pieced dog's sweater and set him on his skateboard with his celebratory balloon. This could be a card for a variety of occasions.

Friends Are The Family That We Choose

I'm working on some Thanksgiving cards today. Thanksgiving is by far, my favorite holiday. I wanted to use my NBUS SSS Eucalyptus Dies, and I also wanted to play at Color Throwdown #718. I am screaming in on the last day, but I love the colors and they work for my Thanksgiving theme today. While looking for some inspiration, I ran across a card in THIS post (the first card)  and I decided to CASE it.

Supplies Used:
Stamps - Reverse Confetti Autumn Sentiments
Paper - SU Riding Hood Red; More Mustard and Tangerine Tango Card Stock; PTI Soft Stone Card Stock; Gina K. Pure Ivory Pure Luxury heavy weight card Stock.
Ink - VersaFine Onyx Black; PTI Soft Stone

Trick Or Treat

A new challenge starts today at Can You Handle The Pressure? where the theme is always Anything Goes with an Embossing Folder and an optional twist. Heat embossing is welcome, but not required. An Embossing Folder must be used. For this challenge, the twist is "WREATHS".

I embossed my brown card base with a Darice Honeycomb EF. I die cut a piece of textured orange card stock with a Die-namics Fishtail Flag die. I stamped, colored and die cut ghosts, pumpkins and spider with Ghost Friends and Trick or Treat Friends from Pretty Pink Posh. I popped them up on the wreath die cut (Hero Arts, I think). The Trick or Treat die cut is from Papertrey Ink. The twine is from Lawn Fawn (I think).

Joyous Wishes

I just got this beautiful Altenew Mistletoe Wreath stamp, die, and stencil sets and the matching embossing folder. I made this card using the colors for Just Add Ink Challenge #628
and lo and behold, I missed the deadline! Oh well...

I really love the way it turned out using 2 shades of pink, 2 shades of turquoise and a dark purple. I foiled a greeting from Spellbinders in rose gold, and I also used the Detail Ringlet Plate from SSS to give the background a little texture.

Wave

Time Out Challenge #226 begins today. This time we are challenged to inspired by this quote: "A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination."

We are generously sponsored by STAMPlorations. Winner will receive a $25.00 Gift Voucher to use at the STAMPlorations digital store.

We are so pleased to welcome Heather Heroldt of Handmade by Heather and winner of Time Out Challenge #223, as our Guest Designer. Heather's creations are abundant and wonderful. Do treat yourself to a stroll through her blog. You will be so glad you did!

At the suggestion of one of my Time Out teammates, I used the Wave stamp set from The Ton. I combined it with a sentiment from The Ton's Get It, Girl stamp set (retired). My card is very simple, yet powerful which is the way the quote speaks to me.
