us. friends. always.

Less Is More #474 starts today and ends on October 7th. We are challenged to create a Clean & Simple card with the theme of FRIENDSHIP.
I have had this wonderful Spellbinders die set for a long time, and finally used it. I have also had this wonderful sentiment from Impression Obsession for a long time. At long last, they both got some love. Perfect for this challenge.

Please head over to the Less Is More Blog and see what the Design Team has created for your inspiration. I hope you'll play along with us to share your creations. Remember to keep your design Clean And Simple which we define as designs that include large areas of CLEAR AND CLEAN space with NO PATTERN, NO INK and NO TEXTURE See challenge guidelines on the Less Is More Blog.

The Season Of Color

A new challenge starts today at Can You Handle The Pressure? where the theme is always Anything Goes with an Embossing Folder and an optional twist. Heat embossing is welcome, but not required. An Embossing Folder must be used. For this challenge, the twist is "Leaves".

My background is embossed with the SSS Fall Foliage EF, colored with various Distress Oxide Inks and mounted on brown card stock. I stamped my sentiment from Paper Smooches Fall Sampler stamp set on cream colored card stock with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink and die cut it with Pinkfresh Studio Braided Circles. I die cut some leaves with Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves dies and tucked them around the sentiment circle, and my card was complete.

Please head over to the Can You Handle The Pressure Challenge? blog to check out the Design Team inspiration projects. You are sure to be impressed (pun intended)! Then dive into your embossing folder collection and join us with or without the twist! Just be sure to use an embossing folder on your creation!

Time Out #223

Time Out Challenge #223 begins today. This time we have a Photo Inspiration.

Here's an enlargement of the photo.

We are generously sponsored by Newton's Nook Designs. Winner will receive a $25.00 Gift voucher to the Newton's Nook Store.

I created my card with a few of elements in the photo - the Christmas tree topped with a sparkly star, the small pillow all the way to the right on the couch, and the black background in the fireplace. The design is a bit of a departure for me. When I showed it to DH, he said "I hate the silver polkadots". His reaction cracked me up. I knew I had succeeded in getting out of my comfort zone!

Supplies used:
Hero Arts Color Layering Snowy Tree
Ranger white EP
Pinkfresh Studio Folk Edge Circles
Pink & Main Sentiment Strip Dies
SSS CZ Designs Sentiment Strips Christmas
SSS Simple Patterns Trio Stencils
Dreamweaver Metallic silver embossing paste
Gina K Foil
Glitter card stock

ON ANOTHER NOTE, TIME OUT IS HAVING A DT CALL. DETAILS ARE ON THE CHALLENGE BLOG TODAY, AND THERE WILL BE A SPECIAL POST TOMORROW (9/23) WITH A LINKY FOR INTERESTED CRAFTERS!

Please head on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog to see the wonderful creations that the Design Team came up with to inspire you. Come play with us!

Ghosts & Goblins

Less Is More #473 starts today and ends on September 23rd. We are challenged to create a Clean & Simple card in black & white.

The celebration of Halloween (October 31st) is big in the US, so I have that in my head at this time of year. The Halloween candy has been out in the stores since July.

My card features Poppy Stamps Ghost Collage die, cut in black & white with the negative black pieces inlaid. I stenciled stars with white ink onto a black card base, popped the ghosts up on them and added a sentiment from  SSS Sentiment Strips Halloween Senthal to complete my card.

September - Anything Goes

I Can Smell Autumn Dancing In The Breeze

A new challenge starts today at Can You Handle The Pressure? where the theme is always Anything Goes with an Embossing Folder and an optional twist. Heat embossing is welcome, but not required. An Embossing Folder must be used. For this challenge, the twist is "Fall".

I used a Tim Holtz wood grain embossing folder for my background. I swiped it with Soft Suede ink before embossing on kraft card stock. I die cut MFT Grande Greenery Solid in several Fall colors and created a wreath. Finally, I added this wonderful sentiment from So Susy Stamps that I bring out every Fall.

Happy Birthday To You

I made this card for a dear friend who I have known since I was a college freshman. (a few years ago - LOL). She and I were housemates way back then. Fuchsia plants were always hanging from our porch and they always make me think of her, so I wanted to use them on her card.

I have had this Hero Arts color layering Fuchsia stamp and die sets for a very long time, and finally dug them out. I thought they would look gorgeous set on top of this Sizzix 3-D Texture Fades Embossing Folder Doily by Tim Holtz. I used vellum for the embossing which gave it such a realistic look. The sentiment is from Altenew's Fresh Freesia stamp set. I added a few silver metallic pearls from PinkFresh Studio, and my card was complete.
