Neverland

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out! For the next fortnight we challenge you to be Inspired by these words: "If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales." ~ Albert Einstein.

We are generously sponsored by AALL & Create with a $20 Store Credit for the winner, and an offer to Guest Design with The Time Out Design Team for a future challenge.

We welcome Kim Heggins of Cupcakes, Cards and Kim as our Guest Designer. Kim is a former member of the Time Out Design Team, and we are thrilled to have her designing with us for this challenge.

I went with our sponsor's Peter Pan Stamp Set.  My idea was to fashion a hiding place for the lost boys using  a domed die cut and a woodgrain stamp.

Please head on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog to see the wonderful creations that Claire and the Design Team came up with to inspire you. Come play with us!

Hello From My Happy Place - Take 2

On 6/15/23 (2 posts down), I posted a card made with Spellbinders Day At The Beach die set that I had not used before. You can see that card HERE.  That was my first time using the set, and there were 3 bothersome flaws in the card I made: the polka dot paper that I used camouflaged the "hello" inlaid in the hat brim; the loose ribbons were glued on backwards, and the sea foam was wonky because I embossed it twice, and somehow the cardstock moved with the second inking.

These things bothered me, so I deconstructed the first one and remade it reversing the papers on the hat (you can now see the "hello" clearly), gluing the gold ribbons on the hat correctly, and heat embossing the sea foam without the wonkiness! I also moved the beach bag to the right side.

I really love this card.  I am happy with it now and will be making lots of others with this wonderful set.

Global Tiger Day

It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday where every challenge is an inspiration list based on a selected holiday/festivity from the traditional to the unusual. Challenge projects must include at least three items from the festivity inspiration list. Your project does not have to go with the challenge theme. You can just use 3 or more items from the inspo list for your creation.

Today's festivities are inspired by Global Tiger Day which takes place on July 29th. Wild tiger numbers have dropped by more than 95% since the beginning of the 20th century. Tigers can be found in isolated forests and grasslands throughout Asia. Their habitat is wide ranging – from evergreen and monsoon forests, to mixed coniferous-deciduous woodlands, and mangrove swamps. There are estimated to be around 3,900 tigers in the wild.

The challenge runs from July 8th - July 18th.

I like to create a card for our challenge that goes with the theme. I had the purr-fect supplies in my stash for this. All products that I used in creating this card are from Hero Arts. I punched a circle from masking paper to ink the sun. I then masked the sun with that circle so that I could ink blend the rest of the background with various Distress Oxide Inks. I used embossing paste with the Hero Arts Tribal Shapes Stencil on Kraft card stock for some texture and interest, added that panel to the left side of my card and glued the distress ink panel to the right of it. I die cut the grass and tree with the Hero Arts Thorn Tree and Grasses Fancy Dies and glued them onto my blended panel. I then stamped and die cut my tigers using Hero Arts Color Layering Bengal Tigers. I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts Safari Huge Thanks stamp set with VersaFine Onyx Black and heat embossed it with clear EP. I glued the inked and stenciled panels on to a piece of black Gina K black card stock, and my card was complete.

I used tigers, stripes, orange, black & fur from the Inspo list.

Salty But Sweet

Time Out Challenge #179 begins today.  We are challenged to create a card inspired by the word "YOU"! Create a card that says something about YOU. This could be your favorite card-making style, favorite food, movie, book...

Our sponsor for this challenge is Stamplorations

STAMPlorations is offering a prize of a $25 gift voucher for our winner!
Additionally, the winner will be asked to be the Guest Designer for a future challenge.

Our Guest Designer this week is Anila. Be sure to visit her awesome blog and show her some love.

Nothing says "me" more than anything related to the sea. I always say that I was a mermaid in a former life. My place of peace is the beach. My favorite sound is ocean waves crashing on the sand. My favorite day is a day at the beach. So, I created a card with ocean waves and a mermaid tail using Essentials By Ellen Inner Mermaid stamps and die by Julie Ebersole.  It is very ME!

Love

Happy New Year!!!! What better a way to start a new year and a new decade than with a new challenge at Time Out!! Time Out Challenge #152 is a photo inspiration challenge that is full of LOVE. And how appropriate because what the world (desperately) needs now is love, sweet love...

Our sponsor is Funky Fossils Designs. Challenge winner will receive a £15 gift code (British Sterling) to use at the Funky Fossils Shop.

I went for a pretty literal interpretation here as I so often do with photo inspirations... I foiled one of the hearts from Funky Fossils Four Hearts stencil with Deco Foil Pink Melon foil. It looks black in my photo, but it is a lovely shade of pink IRL. I used Tim Holtz's Bricked layered stencil with Pumice Stone Distress Oxide Ink for the background. My LOVE banner was made with Thin Fish Tail banner dies from Pink and Main, Cole's ABC dies from Lawn Fawn and some baker's twine.

Please head over to the Time Out Challenge Blog and see what our marvelous DT has created to inspire you. Come play with us!

Celebrate Everything

Time Out Challenge #139 is up and running. This time, it is an "Inspired By Words" challenge with a quote from Oscar Wilde: "With freedom, flowers and the moon, who could not be happy?"

This challenge is sponsored by the fabulous Catherine Pooler. Our winner, chosen by the design team, will receive a $25 coupon to the Catherine Pooler store

Clairea regular player at Time Out, is our guest designer. Clair is an incredibly talented card artist whose coloring skills are amazing. Please treat yourself to a visit to her blog: Life on the Scrap Heap for heaps of inspiration. You'll be so glad you did.

Using Sponsor stamps Good Things and Canvas Grunge Background, I interpreted the quote as one of celebration, and how many reasons there always are to do so.

Today is a huge day of celebration here in the US, which prompted me to use red, white and blue as my color palatte. I created a background with Distress Oxide inks that I inked directly to Catherine Pooler's Canvas Grunge Background stamp. I sprayed it with water and stamped it on Neeneh Solar White 80# paper. Once dry, I spattered it with a little Perfect Pearls mixed with water, then die cut a large star from the background to use as the stage for my quote. I stamped it with VersaFine Onyx Black inside the star, then embossed with clear EP on top of the black ink. I spattered a mixture of red Perfect Pearls and water on a panel die cut with a Lawn Fawn scalloped rectangle, added some twine at the top, popped the star up in the middle, and adhered it to an A2 card base cut from SU Marina Mist cardstock.

Please head over to the Time Out Challenges Blog to see what Claire and the rest of the Design Team have created for your inspiration. Play with us to share your creation, and a chance to win a prize from Catherine Pooler Designs. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
