A Turkey Should Be Dressed!

Thanksgiving is by far, my favorite holiday. This year is a tough one, as it is the first since my sister's passing in December. I wanted to make a card for my nieces that would lift them but nothing goopy. The feast will be at the house they grew up in and I know emotions will run high.  I thought this was perfect.

A Happy Halloween

I Have these wonderful prints on fabric from Crafty Secrets that I have had in my stash forever. I recently used one for a card for the current Time Out Challente (Vintage), and now I am thinking of ways to use them in time to get Halloween Cards out. This is something I say I am going to do every year, and usually don't.

I used Jaydee's sketch from The Paper Players #PP663 as my design inspiration.

Hopefully I will get more of these done this week and in the mail to my favorite goblins and Halloween lovers!

Enjoy Thanksgiving

Time for another AAA Cards Challenge.  The theme of Game #52 is Thanks and/or Thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday here in the US, bar none.  I love gathering with friends and family, sharing food and stories and having the house smell wonderful from all the cooking and baking.  It can be a hard day too for many, and I always keep that in mind with a heart full of gratitude for my many blessings.

Here is my take on the challenge:

I have a Thanksgiving themed set of images on fabric from Crafty Secrets that I have had forever.  This one is quite comical.  I cut it out and adhered it to a die cut stitched square which is popped up with foam tape on the base. There is a tiny bit of blue in the image that matches the twine, so I went for it.  I stenciled some spatters with Antique Linen DI on the base. The sentiment is an old Hero Arts wood mounted stamp.  I embossed the image in copper, though I kind of wish I used a darker hue.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  Please head over to the AAA Cards Challenge blog and see what the DT has created.  Then get your craft on, and link up your Thanks and Thanksgiving creation there.

I am linking my Enjoy Thanksgiving card to the following challenges:

Anyone who knows me knows that the sea is my preferred place of existence.  Today, when I was looking at the new PTI release and the fabulous creations that the design team came up with, I found THIS fabulous card made by Debbie Olson.  How gorgeous is that sand and sea?  I immediately knew I had to CASE it, and then I can up with the perfect idea for the LIM challenge #67 this week which is to make a one layer card using 3 stamps.  I just love, love, love this.  I hope you like it too.

Holiday's Delight

This card was made in combination of this week's Our Creative Corner challenge, which is is all about Christmas; and Wednesday's Splitcoast Sketch Challenge #291 that I used for my layout.  See below.
At first I had a hard time visualizing what I would do, but when I took out my brand new Greeting Card Kids set from SU, I knew.  The set comes without sentiments.  Since it looks very old fashioned, I pulled out my Crafty Secrets Vintage Christmas stamp set, and used a sentiment from there.  These Greeting Card Kids images remind me so much of these little Gurley Holiday Candles that my beloved Aunt Gina used to give to my sisters and I at holiday time.  There were Halloween candles, Thanksgiving candles and Christmas.  We  always put them on our holiday dinner table.  You can get them at the Vermont Country Store.  These SU images are very nostalgic to me.  I love them.

Here are my supplies:
Stamps~SU Holiday Card Kids, Crafty Secrets Vintage Christmas.
Ink~Momento Rich Cocoa, Ranger Antique Linen Distress Ink.
Paper~Nenah Solar White, Old Olive, Early Espresso, Riding Hood Red,SU Merry Moment DSP (R), Creative Memories Metallic Gold.
Accessories~SU Alpine 5/8" striped grosgrain ribbon (R), gold brads, Polar White Flower Soft, Flower Soft Glue, Gold Stickles, Copics, Nestabilities, Dimensionals, Mat pack & piercing tool.

Vintage Valentine

I recently found the wonderful Cuttlebug Challenge Blog, and there I met a new friend - the wonderful and talented June Houck of Simply Elegant Paper Crafts. Vintage Valentine Be Inspired #68 challenge is to create a Vintage Valentine for your someone special. Well, this was right up my alley! Crafty Secrets is sponsoring this challenge - I LOVE their stuff!!! I already had the wonderful Crafty Secrets Cotton Scraps Romance collection in my stash. This and the luscious red silk ribbon came from Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, and the ribbon treatment is one of Sharon's signature embellishments. I came up with this very simple card in the Stamp Simply style. The base of the card is Creamy Caramel. I used a hearts EF with the Cuttlebug to emboss the white panel, punched the corners with the Ticket Corner Punch, mounted it on black and placed half pearls in the corners. The main image is cut from the Crafty Secrets Cotton Scraps Romance Collection, matted with Soft Sage and again with black. I pierced under the image on the Soft Sage. I used the Bow Easy to make the bow. Do you know about this tool?? This is a MUST HAVE! Click HERE to see Sharon's technique for this ribbon treatment. Love is in the air! Have a wonderful day!

Look Who's Coming!!

I am so inspired by Sharon Johnson, and I have been wanting to do a card with her famous "ribbon treatment" forever. Now that I finally did it, I can't stop myself! Sharon has a wonderful store on her website that is full of wonderful things for stamping simply... or not. Her ribbons are luscious, and there are so many other wonderful things. As far as this card goes, I have to laugh at myself - it is VERY simple, but it sure took me a loooooooooooooooooooong time to get it right. I have to learn how to be a quicker whipper upper!! I love these Crafty Secrets Cotton Scraps vintage images on fabric. You can get them from Sharon's store! I am in need of Thanksgiving cards, so I decided to use my inspiration and goodies from Sharon and do this card today. This one cracks me up. I love it!

Thankful For You

Here is another card that I made today with Crafty Secrets Cotton Scraps that I purchased from Sharon Johnson's Ribbon Store. It's funny, I started out to do the Stamp Simply Challenge which was to do a Matchbook Fold card. My main image was too big to make the matchbook work, so I tore it all apart and put it back together as a regular card. I did a lot of laboring on this card that was meant to be "simple". Ha Ha Ha! I like the way it turned out anyway, and I did use Sharon's famous "ribbon treatment" on this one too! The sentiment inside is "Happy Thanksgiving".

Totally Witchin'

This is my take on Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply #103 - Overstamped Sentiment Challenge. The image is from Crafty Secrets Halloween Images and Journal Notes. These are so fun to use, and you can purchase them and many others from Sharon's Ribbon Store. I loved this image, but I made the mistake of using an embossing powder on it that I had never used before and it did not cover the way I wanted it to. So I had to cut it down, and use different powder on a different part of the image... even so, I think it's a fun card! Thanks for stopping by today!

Beach Time Invitation

I am SUPER happy with the way this card turned out. I used this week's fabulous OCC sketch challenge for the layout. The centerpiece is an image from Crafty Secrets "Summer" Cotton Scraps collection. I first saw Cotton Scraps used for card creations on Sharon Johnson's blog, and I had to try them. I purchased mine via Sharon's Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, along with her lucious ribbon offerings and other things like the amazing Bow Easy. Of course, it took me hours to "whip" this baby together, but theoretically, it could have been a quick project! LOL!!

Here's the Recipe~
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Confetti White, Baja Breeze, Blue Bayou, Riding Hood Red.
Stamps: Hugs & Wishes
Ink: Soft Sky, Pacific Point.
Accessories: Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Mat Pack & Piercing Tool, Karen Foster White Mini Brads, Dimensionals, Cuttlebug, Brayer, Nestabilities Ribbon Tag Trio, Sticky Strip, Twill Tape,
Crop-a-dial.

Courage and Healing

Lately life has been a bit overwhelming, and I have not had much time to create. I am always happier and more content when I can spend time feeding my creative soul. This one is a 3-fer. Last week's OCC challenge was to add a doodle to your project. My doodles are on the top panel. I used the colors from SCS CC208 (Pink Passion, Kiwi Kiss and Chocolate Chip), and the layout from SC218.

Recipe:

Stamps: Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps~Support the Girls
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, Pink Passion, Raspberry Tart DSP, White
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pink Passion, Kiwi Kiss
Accessories: Dew Drops, Markers, Dimensionals, MS Lace Border Punch, Mat Pack and Piercing Tool

The inside has a beautiful blessing by Joyce Rupp that reads:

May you desire to be healed.
May what is wounded in your life be restored to good health.
May you be receptive to the ways in which healing needs to happen.
May you take good care of yourself.
May you extend compassion to all that hurts within your body, mind, spirit.
May you be patient with the time it takes to heal.
May the skills of all those who are caring for you be used to the best of their ability in returning you to good health.
May you be open to receive from those who extend kindness, care and compassion to you. May you rest peacefully under the wings of divine love, trusting in this gracious presence.
May you find little moments of you to sustain you. May you keep hope in your heart.
