Happy Birthday, Tommy Pumpkin

This card is for an about-to-be-5-year-old little boy, a ginger who LOVES everything cowboy. Not even sure where that comes from. I don't know any other child these days who is into the western scene. There is a place here in NJ called Wild West City that has been open for as long as I can remember. They stage a train robbery and the whole nine yards that go along with the western theme. This kid just can't get enough. So I bought these stamps and paper pad just to make him a cowboy themed birthday card. I stamped the images, colored with Copics and fussy cut them. Then I added the ground on which the boy and horse are standing with Copics, and stenciled the clouds. Finished with patterned paper, buttons and stars. This one is heavily influenced by DT member Michele Boyer's card as you can se HERE. It is just so perfect for Tommy.

Time Out #287

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out Challenge #287 opens today and runs through May 7th. It is a "Photo Inspiration" challenge. The photo came from our Design Team Member, Kate Lesh. It was taken by her friend as they were participating in a street fair with a booth showcasing their handmade items in Luxembourg a few years ago. I love this photo. There is an enlargement beneath the Challenge Badge below that you can use to more clearly see the many details in the photo from which to take inspiration for your project. Please be sure to describe in your post, how the photo inspired your creation.

We are generously sponsored by UNIKO with a $25.00 store credit as a prize for our challenge winner as chosen by the Design Team. Thank you, Bev Brown, for your continued support of Time Out. We appreciate you so much!

In studying the photo I was drawn to what appears t be a wrought iron railing on the staircase behind the costumed person on the right. I immediately thought of the PTI Wrought Iron Impression Plate circa March 2012. Once I decided to use that for my background, my design came together. I used the Impression plate with Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Ink and my BetterPress to create the background. I LOVE the effect! Then I focused on the flowers hanging in the booth and on the costumed person n the right and created a cascade of flowers using a variety of pink, red and green DO inks and Waffle Flower Dies. I matted the background panel with SU Glorious Green (long retired) which matched the green in the costumes, as did Lucky Clover.

I wanted to play at Color Hues with this lovely color combination. I really need to build my stash of birthday cards, so I decided to make a card that would be good for anyone (though it is great for a masculine card), especially in the spring.

My Favorite Movie: It's a Wonderful Life

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out. Time Out #285 is an "Inspired By" Challenge where we are challenged to be inspired by a favorite movie for our projects. There are so many movies that I love, but "It's a Wonderful Life" really IS my favorite.

Strange, isn’t it?  Each person’s life touches so many other lives . –Clarence the Angel

The photo above is from the moment in the movie where Clarence the angel, gets his wings. Clarence saved George, a bell just rang and George knows what has just happened. I changed a word in the sentiment, which is a famous quote from the movie, from "his" to "their". The reason for that is that now this quote always brings to mind the morning my mother took her last breath. My sisters and I were with her. The moment she passed, the fire alarm started blaring. We all started to laugh really hard because we all had the same thought. Surely, my beautiful mother got her wings at that moment, so I had to change the pronoun on the quote to include her and Clarence at the same time. If you know that movie, you know my card is self explanatory.

We are sponsored by Claire Brennan Designs. She is gifting our Challenge Winner her wonderful Mid Mod City Stamp set. Check it out on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

We are joined by Ginger Williams of Andora's Stamping Studio, and winner of Time Out #280 as Guest Designer.  Her favorite movie is Julie & Julia. Check out her cards on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

Red Carpet Fashion

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out, and this one is really a fun one. This time it is a Theme challenge: The Red Carpet. We'd like to see your creations that are inspired by Red Carpet Fashion. You can use the collage above for your inspiration, but you can also pick any Red Carpet Photo from any awards event at any time.

Important - Please note the following in order to qualify for the win: If you use a photo from the collage below as inspiration for your project, please tell us which one in your post. If you use a photo from anywhere else, please include it in your post so that we can see what inspired you.

We are generously sponsored by Picket Fence Studios with a $25.00 Store Credit as a prize for our Challenge Winner, who will also be invited to join us as Guest Designer for a future challenge.

We are joined by Carol Mayne of just me: c, and winner of Time Out #279 as Guest Designer. Check out her fabulous Red Carpet Project on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

I used Halle Berry's iconic 2022 Oscars dress from a special Elie Saab fashion show celebrating the designer’s 1001st season - Top middle photo above. If you enlarge the photo, you will see that the top of the gown is embroidered with a stargazer lily and leaf motif. I used Altenew's Build-A-Flower Stargazer Stamps & Dies to mimic that design. I placed the lilies on a background meant to give the feel of the netting that the embroidered flowers are attached to on in the gown, and the burgundy card base represents the bottom of the gown.

Please head on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog where you can see what Carol and the rest of the Design Team has created for your inspiration. Come play with us. I can't wait to see your Red Carpet inspiration projects!

Hogs and Kisses

I was perusing my challenge list today and there were two that inspired me to make this card. I am still working on cataloging all of my card making supplies (it's been 2 years and I am still chugging along😱) and the challenge inspirations made me think of these NBUS PTI Stamps and dies. Ahem. From 2012!

The challenges are:

Pigs - obvious element for Cupcake Inspiration, but I loved the idea of 3 pigs in a progression of pinks for the AAA sketch. I am smitten with the card I came up with. Super CAS and fun.

I have to send this one to NBUS too. Thirteen years is a long time to wait to be used!!! Holy Moly! Screaming in the last 6 hours of the challenge...
