Happy Birthday, James!

Time for a new challenge at Just Us Girls. It's Anythig Goes Stencil week. I CASEd myself with this one. I recently made an A2 card for an 8 year old which you can see HERE. I loved it so much, that I made it again, changing it to a slimline design and using a different sentiment that I heat embossed with silver EP. This one was made for my 13 year old nephew who is such a wonderful kid. I will put some cash inside and he will be thrilled because he is learning about investing, and that is what he will do with his gift. That just makes me smile. Me? I would spend it immediately on craft supplies!

Please head on over to the Just Us Girls Challenge Blog to see what our fabulous Guest Designer, Stef Perry, and the rest of the Design Team have made to spark your creativity. Come play with us!

Welcome Summer

A new challenge starts today at Can You Handle The Pressure? where the theme is always Anything Goes with an Embossing Folder and an optional twist. Heat embossing is welcome, but not required. An Embossing Folder must be used. For this challenge, the twist is "Summer". The challenge runs from juy 9th to July 20th.

To create my card, I used a panel that I had in my stash. It was created with a Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations EF. I used lots of golden shimmery spray to make is super sunny, but I must admit it was a while ago, so I can't say exactly how it was made and with what supplies. The Summer die cut and background is from Neat & Tangled. The "welcome" is from Winnie & Walter, and the die cut strip from Pink & Main.

Please head over to the Can You Handle The Pressure Challenge Blog to check out the Design Team inspiration projects. You are sure to be impressed! Then dive into your embossing folder collection and join us with or without the twist! Just be sure to use an embossing folder on your creation!

Hello Spring

I am so pleased to be here as Guest Designer for the April Four Seasons Spring Challenge that starts today, April 1st.

Here is the mood board for the challenge:

I love Magnolias - Pink, Star, Chinese, Figo... you name it. Growing up, there was a huge Pink  Magnolia tree in our front yard that had been planted by my grandfather as a gift to our family. Every year when in bloomed in all of its magnificence, we would pray everyday that a spring frost would not come and turn it all brown. I have been thinking of that tree, especially with the fluctuation in our weather here is the northeastern part of the US, and it seemed fitting that for my Spring card, I would go with Magnolias.

I embossed a 4x5.5 panel of 110 lb. card stock with  the SSS Magnolias Embossing Folder. I used blending brushes to apply 3 shades of pink Distress Oxide Inks directly onto the EF. I ran it though my die cutting machine and got this beautiful result. I added sentiments from Neat & Tangled Hello Spring stamps and dies and glued some Dew Drops and my card was complete.

Thank you so much Darlene and Diane, for having me as Guest Designer for this challenge. Please head on over to the Four Seasons Challenge blog and check out what the fabulous Design Team has come up with to get your creative juices flowing.

Celebrating Summer

I am a teacher on summer break, and I am filled with gratitude for that! It has been a long, hard year of teaching during a pandemic and all of the challenges associated with that, and I am doing the happy dance in a big way. This card is a celebration of all things Summer - beach, BBQ, ice cream, fireworks, time to craft, etc.

To create my card, I used A Colorful Life Designs Sun and Surf Stencil with distress Oxide Inks, and the Hello Summer die set from Neat & Tangled (retired) with a vellum background. The word is stacked three times with white card stock, and the top die cut in done with mirror black card stock. It shines beautifully and really stands out.

The inside is stamped with a sentiment from Neat & Tangled Hello Summer Stamp Set (retired) and reads:

WARM OCEAN BREEZE
SUNSHINE
FIREFLIES & FIREWORKS
ICE CREAM CONES
BARBEQUES & BEACH DAYS
FLIP FLOPS AND FUN TIMES

SUMMER

The current Fusion Challenge inspiration photo really sparked my creativity. That row of popsicles with the word "summer" spelled out jumped out at me. I have been resisting the slimline craze, but my idea needed lots of horizontal room, so I went with it. My card measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2". I used Paper Smooches Ice Cream Cone dies and Lawn Fawn Alphabet dies to mimic the popsicle element in the inspiration photo. The cones are dabbed with Antique Linen DO Ink to add some dimension. The sentiment is from Neat and Tangled. I love the way it turned out.

Supplies:
Stamps~Neat & Tangled Hello Summer.
Ink~VersaMark; Antique Linen Distress Oxide.
Accessories~PTI White Filigree Embossing Powder; Lawn Fawn Lawn Cuts: Cole's ABCs; Paper Smooches Ice Cream Cone Die; MFT Fishtail Flags Die.
Paper~Various SU and PTI colored cardstock; SU Confetti Cream; Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock; Environment Desert Storm 100# cardstock.

Grieving With You

I was looking through my list of challenge blogs today, and saw the colors for CAS On Friday.
I love them, and immediately went to work using other inspiration from other challenges to create this sympathy card. I completed the card, and then it hit me! By my definition, the card I created is NOT a CAS card. Too much patterned space! Ugh. Still, I really love the way it turned out and though I am not entering it in the CAS On Friday challenge, there is plenty of inspiration from other places where it fits.

Supplies:
Paper: Neenah Solar White 110# and 80#, Patterned paper that came as a gift in a stamp order.
Stamps: Altenew Flower Arrangement
Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black, PTI Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Ocean Tides, Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold.
Accessories: Altenew Flower Arrangement Dies, MFT Stitched Scallop Basic Edge Dies.

Happy Little Stampers

This is a CAS (Clean And Simple Challenge), so please be sure that your entry is CAS. Here is a definition to remind you of the definition of CAS:

I have a friend who is going through a very tough time in her life, and I wanted to make a special card for her to lend her support and let her know that she is loved. So I thought I would use my new Hero Arts Dragonfly die.
In nature, the Dragonfly is an amazingly powerful and graceful navigator, flying up to 45 miles per hour. It can change direction and even fly backward. This gives Dragonfly the symbolic value of a spiritual guide particularly through tricky winds. When you’re in the middle of a storm, let Dragonfly show you the way out with confidence.

Please visit the Addicted to CAS Challenge blog and see what the lovely and talented Design Team has created for your inspiration. Then go for the gold, and play along with us. Remember to keep it CAS!

Supplies:
Stamps~Neat & Tangled A-Mazing
Accessories~Hero Arts Dragonfly Fancy Dies Steel Die, Tim Holtz Speckles Layering Stencil, Stampendous Dreamweaver Gold Embossing Paste.
