Christmas Shaker Card

Time Out Challenge #252 starts today with the Theme of Winter/Holiday. We are sponsored by Birch Press Design. Winner will receive a $20.00 Store Credit to the Birch Press Store, and will get an invitation to be a Guest Designer for a future Challenge at Time Out.

TIME OUT IS ALSO HAVING A DT CALL!
Please click HERE for details.

Our Guest Designer is Jen Elliot of Live.Craft.Repeat. Jen is a very talented crafter, and a frequent participant of Time Out. Do treat yourself to a stroll through her blog for some wonderful inspiration!

For my card, I dug very deeply into the depths of my stash and dug out the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero October 2016 Kit. I've seen some snow globes out there lately that really inspired me, so I decided to make one. I always feel like I have to fiddle too much with shakers and all the bits find their way to the desk, floor, my hair... but I was bound and determined to get this one right. Most of what I used was from the kit, except the little bow die cut on the lower right, and the tiny star background which was stamped with VersaMark using a HeroArts Cling background stamp.

Gather your Winter/Holiday supplies and head over to the Time Out Challenge Blog for some awesome inspiration from our Guest Designer Jen and the Design team. Come play with us!!!

  • Creating two cards per month that follow the challenge theme.
  • Commenting on the blogs of those who enter our challenge.

This design team call will be open for the duration of this challenge. If you have any questions related to the DT call, you can mail them to Nonni at nonniscards@gmail.com.

When considering a design for my challenge card, the word "precious" immediately brought a (this) mother's love to mind. I love this wonderful image from Paper Smooches A Little Lovin' and went right for it. I stamped it and colored it with Copics. The clouds in the background are from the Cloud Edger Stencil from It's a Colorful Life Designs. I framed it with Spellbinders Hemstitch Circle dies. The background is done with Stampin Up's Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder, and the sentiment is from The Gray Muse You Grow Girl.

I am certain this card will be going to one of my boys in the not too distant future.

Please hop on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog to see the wonderful creations that the Design Team came up with to inspire you. Come play with us!

100% Happy

Less Is More Challenge #443 begins today. We are challenged to make a Clean and Simple card that features our favorite technique.
It is hard to choose one technique that is my favorite, but I certainly do love to stencil, so that is the technique I chose. To create my card, I used the Shimmering Rays Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and four Distress Oxide inks in orange hues: Dried Marigold, Carved Pumpkin, Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey. I then stamped the center with an image from SSS Flip Flop Season, and embossed it with clear EP. I then put the stencil back in place and applied Gina K Glitz Glitter Gel to give the rays sparkle and shine.

I needed a retirement card for a man friend, and this will work wonderfully. I am certainly 100% happy that he is going out at the top of his game, and I hope he has a long and healthy new chapter ahead of him with the Jersey Shore and Florida sun shining down on him!

Please head over to the Less Is More Blog and see what the Design Team has created for your inspiration. I hope you'll play along with us to share your creations. Remember to keep your design Clean And Simple. See challenge guidelines on the Less Is More Blog.

I Love You So Mulch

It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday where every challenge is an inspiration list based on a selected holiday/festivity from the traditional to the unusual. Challenge projects must include at least three items from the festivity inspiration list.

Since the Inspiration List is a mix of elements related to the festivity, the creator has the choice to make something for that festivity, or to ignore the festivity all together and create something using just the three (or more) elements selected.

Today's festivities are in celebration of National Gardening Week, which is celebrated June 6th - 12th this year. The challenge runs from May 14th - May 24th.

I like to create a card for our challenge that goes with the celebration. For my National Gardening Week-themed card, I used the Paper Smooches Green Thumb stamp set to make my seed packets and colored them with Copics adding a little shading with Antique Linen Distress Oxide Ink. I tore a piece of brown textured card stock for my dirt, mounted my seed packets on popsicle sticks, and inked the sky with the Cloud Edger stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. I adhered the seed packet sticks, added a sentiment and my card was done. I used plants (well, planted seeds), green, die cut and dirt from the inspo list.

Your Hard Work

This is the last challenge where we celebrate Less Is More's 9th Birthday and the 8th Birthday of Uniko Stamps, our wonderful sponsor.

For Less Is More #414, we have a continuation of the theme of sizes, and this week it is Big And Small. For example an elephant and a mouse, a large sentiment and a tiny image, a big flower and a small flower, a large square, a small square... Something like that!

When I saw the prompt, I immediately thought of this image from Paper Smooches A Little Lovin set and decided to craft my card around it. This is a card of pride and encouragement for one of my sons who is seeing the fruits of his labors at school. He has always been such a hard worker. He has had some significant obstacles to overcome along his way. Things are really coming together for him at the moment, so this one is for him. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words Encouragement. It is full of wonderful sayings.

Please head over to the Less Is More Blog and see what the Design Team has created for your inspiration. I hope you'll play along with us to share your creations and for a chance to win. Remember to keep your design Clean And Simple.

To be eligible for showCASe and PRIZE WINNER choices you will need to carefully follow the guidance on our GLOSSARY OF TERMS and our HOW TO PLAY pages. Your design should feature lots of clean / white / blank / non patterned / non textured space. All challenge details are on the Less Is More blog. Good Luck!

Our wildly talented Guest Designer, Winner of challenge #154, is Desert Diva: Hannelie

Your Friendship

Time Out Challenge #132 is up and running. This time it's a Home Sweet Home Challenge with the picture on the badge above as the inspiration. Our challenge is sponsored by Altenew. A random winner will be chosen to receive a $20.00 gift voucher to the Altenew Store. Awesome!

Our wonderful Guest Designer is Bobby of Bits and Pieces Designs. Bobby's work is absolutely wonderful.  Please treat yourself to a stroll through her blog. You will surely be delighted!

When I looked at the photo, I zeroed in on the two butterfly prints and decided to mimic one of them using Pen Pattern Butterflies Cling Stamp Set by Stampendous. I chose a  sentiment with a friendship theme (Altenew Best Buds set), and I began to think about this butterfly symbolizing me, and the missing one symbolizing the recipient of this card. That is a little out there, but it is what I was thinking. Then I thought that maybe it just looks like a butterfly gone wrong, but I did put a lot of thought into the significance of this creation. LOL.

Please head over to the Time Out Challenges Blog to see what Bobby and the Design Team have created for your inspiration. Play with us to share your creation, and to have a chance to win a prize from Altenew. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
