Happy Birthday, Jon

My twin boys just celebrated their 23rd birthday. My goodness, time surely flies. I made this for Jon, and when he opened it, he said "this is so me". I loved that. He is such a wonderful guy trying to make his way in the college lacrosse coaching world. He is very tenacious, passionate, and boy, can he work a room! I am so very proud of this guy, and I like him very much too!

Jon loves lacrosse and he loves coffee, so I combined them for his card using Bear (Ellen Hutson). I bought a digital image of crossed lacrosse sticks, edited one out of the images, resized it for bear, and colored the head red. Jon is working with the Rutgers University Lacrosse Team at present.  RU colors are red and black. Bear's coffee cup has a red band to match. The background stenciling is inked with Faded Jeans. I love the way this turned out. Love ya, kid.

You Can Do It.

It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday where every challenge is an inspiration list based on a selected holiday/festivity from the traditional to the unusual. Challenge projects must include at least three items from the festivity inspiration list.

Since the Inspiration List is a mix of elements related to the festivity, the creator has the choice to make something for that festivity, or to ignore the festivity all together and create something using just the three (or more) elements selected.

For my coffee-themed project, I used: hot drink theme, die cut, vellum, brown and twine.  My coffee pot and mug/saucer are from Altenew Coffee Love Stamp set,  I used a variety of Copic markers for coloring, embossed vellum for my background, heat embossed the sentiment from The Ton's Coffee Crush Sentiment Set, and Avery Elle Scalloped Pierced Rectangle dies.

Depresso

I am absolutely thrilled to be here as Guest Designer for AAA Cards Game #175 - One Layer + optional twist of Coffee. I used Altenew's Coffee Love stamps to stamp and clear emboss. I colored the coffee pot with Copics and covered with clear Wink Of Stella to give it sparkle. I think the sentiment is hilarious, and I just love the way it turned out.

Please head on over to the AAA Card Challenges Blog and take a look at what the awesome Design Team has created for your inspiration, and come play. You have until October 10th to link your card to the gallery.

Coffee

It's time for a new challenge at Less Is More. We are challenged to make a card or cards with the theme of BEVERAGES. Fun!!!

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is our fantastic March winner Helen of Helen's Craft Haven. Do treat yourself to a stroll through her wonderful blog for lots of inspiration and leave her some love.

Our sponsor is CAS-UAL Fridays Stamps.

For my card, I used CAS-UAL Fridays Coffee Talk set. I wanted the word COFFEE to take the stage and then pair it with one of the hilarious sentiments in the set. The coffee cup silhouette is cut with CUTplorations Coffee Cup Silhouette Die. I cut it from a snippet of paper in my stash that had been inked with Distress Oxide inks. I placed the word coffee on my card base and stamped it a few times with my MISTI to get a crisp image.I placed the die cut over the word and stamped a few more times. I then added the other part of the sentiment below the die cut. The coffee beans are cut from another snippet using Sugar Pea Designs Coffee Words dies.

Please head over to the Less Is More Blog, see what Helen and the Design Team have created for your inspiration. I hope you'll play along with us to share your creations and have chance to win. Remember to keep your design Clean And Simple.

To be eligible for showCASe and PRIZE WINNER choices you will need to carefully follow the guidance on our GLOSSARY OF TERMS and our HOW TO PLAY pages. Your design should feature lots of clean / white / blank / non patterned / non textured space. All challenge details are on the Less Is More blog.

Happy Birthday Jon

Today is my twin sons' 17th birthday. Cartwheels turn to car wheels through the town.... (Joni Mitchell - Circle Game)

Anyway, Jon LOVES his lattes. I love him a latte. So it seemed only right to make him a latte themed card. CASology's current cue is COFFEE, so put that all together and this is what happened:

How 16 springs and 16 summers have gone by so quickly is a mystery to me, but here we are. Jon is a beautiful young man both inside and out.  This morning I was thinking about tomorrow's driver's test, and what a huge thing that is to both parent and child. I said to Jon, "I will miss you in my car".  And will I ever. Years and years of singing with my boys at the top of our lungs.  Some of the best, funniest and important conversations happened with them in my car. I love you. Please be safe in every way imaginable. As you take this huge step on your way to adulthood, keep me tucked in your heart. Love, Mom.

Smell the Coffee!!!

I Need Coffee Flopsey from MFT has been calling me, and Mercy's Sketch today gave me the inspiration to ink it up!
Flopsey is stamped on Neenah Solar White with Memento Tuxedo Black, then paper pieced with Retired SU Good Morning Sunshine DSP. I experimented with using a Copic marker to add a little highlighting to Flopsey- I wasn't sure how that would work out with the DSP, so I didn't do much of it. I also used a Copics to color the background and for Flopsey's cheeks. Flopsey's fuzzy slippers are fuzzied with Liquid Applique. The rest of the DSP is also Good Morning Sunshine, and the mats are Pacific Point, Chocolate Chip and Kiwi Kiss. The finished card is 5 1/4" square. I think I will go make some coffee!! Thanks for stopping by.
