Sparkle

There 's a new challenge up on the Just Us Girls Challenge Blog. This is the fifth Thursday in August which means that our challenge is to CASE a Design Team Member's card. Basically, that means that you use one of the Design Team member's cards as your inspiration, and make it your own. It's so fun to see who our players decide to CASE and how they do it.

My card is specially made for the granddaughter of dear friends who used to live nearby. They moved from NJ to NH around the time my twins were born. I visited them and their beautiful family this past  spring after not seeing them for over 20 years. I met this wonderful little girl for the first time, though I had seen her grow in pictures, videos and stories on Facebook. She is so incredibly delightful, fun, brilliant, and talented with whatever she chooses to embrace. She also loves all things unicorn. I had promised her that I would write. Fast forward a million miles an hour to now, and I finally made this card for her. The unicorn die was a gift from a dear teammate, which makes this card extra special. I found this fab pink, sparkly background in my box of backgrounds. It was perfect. I had so much fun with this card. To CASE it, you could use a unicorn, a rainbow, a pink background, a mythical creature, sparkle... you get the picture. Be sure to explain who/what you were inspired by and how you used it for your card.

Please head over to the Just Us Girls Challenge Blog and see the awesome cards the Design Team has created for your inspiration. Choose one to CASE, make it your own, and join us in the gallery. I can't wait to see what you create!

Love You, Friend

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out. This time around, it's a theme challenge where we are concentrating on friendship, encouragement and support. We do this yearly in the late summer/early fall time period. Originally it was a breast cancer support thing, but over the years we have expanded it to be for any reason a friend or loved one needs love through a struggle. I love this, and sadly, there is often a need for a card like this. A card can be such a powerful thing, and a positive thing. This is the idea behind our yearly challenge.

We are generously sponsored by Uniko. Winner will receive a $25.00 store credit to the Uniko store.
Thank you Bev, for your generosity.

We are joined by Nancy Leppek as Guest Designer. Nancy is well known in the paper crafting community and we are thrilled to have her designing with us. Please welcome her and leave her some love on her Blog.

Please head on over to the Time Out Challenge Blog where you can see what Nancy and the rest of the Design Team has created for your inspiration. Come play with us!

Double Stenciled Fern Hello

It's time for a new challenge at Just Us Girls. I am the host for Stencil week where anything goes, as long as you use a stencil on your project.

We are once again joined by Bonnie Klass as our August Designer. This is Bonnie's last project for August with us. She has been a wonderful guest, and we are go grateful for her artful contributions. Thank you, Bonnie.

For my project, I used 2 stencils to create the subtle effect of the two green shades on the leaves. Die cut that panel with a stitched rectangle die, inlaid a stacked die cut sentiment, added some twine and a mat, adhered it to a white card base, and my card was complete.

Please head over to the Just Us Girls Challenge Blog and check out the wonderful creations by Bonnie and the rest of the Design Team. The canvas and the palette are unlimited, You just need to use a stencil! So check your stencil stash, see what colors strike your fancy, and create a project to share in our gallery! I can't wait to see how our players are inspired.

Hello Honey

It's Mood Board Week at Just Us Girls. Lisa is our host, and she has chosen a bee-u-ti-ful mood board for our inspiration. So many wonderful images and colors for us to choose from. Bonnie Klass continues with us as our August Guest Designer.

For my card, I was inspired by the general feel of bees, flowers, honey and the beautiful late summer colors.

I loved this recent sketch from Freshly Made Sketches,
and although I missed posting a card there in time, I used it as inspiration for the layout of my card here. It's fabulous for using patterned papers. As soon as I saw this mood board, my thoughts went to Essentials By Ellen One In A Buzz-illion stamp & die set. The Graphic 45 papers came as a gift in a shipment from Unity Stamp Company (I believe), and were so perfect for this project.

Please head over to the Just Us Girls Challenge Blog and check out the wonderful creations by Bonnie and the rest of the Design Team. Get crafty with your stash and join us in the gallery! I can't wait to see how our players are inspired.

You Are The Zest

There's a new challenge at Time Out. This time it is a Photo inspiration Challenge.

This photo enlargement will help you see the details.

Photo Credit: "https://www.vecteezy.com/free-photos">Free Stock photos by Vecteezy

With our photo Inspiration challenges you can take inspiration from the entire picture, or just pick one or a few things as your starting point. For example you can pick "fruit" or "hearts" for your inspiration, or "grapes" and make it about grapes and cheese or wine, or choose an "apple" and make it about going back to school... Whatever your choice, please tell us in your post, how you were inspired by the photo.

Our wonderful sponsor is Graciellie Design with a generous prize of a $25.00 store credit for our challenge winner.

We extend a very warm welcome to Stef Perry of Perry Papercrafts and winner of Time Out #265, as Guest Designer for this challenge. Stef is such a talented paper crafter with mad coloring skills, and a delightful person too. We are so happy to have her with us for this challenge. Check out Stef's blog for some sheer delight and serious inspiration.

The photo inspired me to create a card simply using fruit. I chose lemons. I combined products from Altenew, Penny Black and STAMPlorations for my project. See the supplies I used below in Project Details.

You've Been On My Mind

It's time for a new challenge at Just Us Girls. We are hosted by Carol Mayne for Word Week and she has chosen a fun word for us to play with: FRAME. Bonnie Klass continues as our Guest Designer for the month of August. We are so thrilled to have her with us!

My card is very simple. I opened my NBUS Altenew Boho Vases, die cut the pieces and colored them with stencil brushes and Altenew Inks. I also die cut the scalloped frame and colored it as well. I ran the center of the frame die cut through my Platinum Plus with the Bog Dots Embossing Folder and inlaid it into the frame. I popped up the vase and leaves and added a sentiment strip to complete my card.

Please head over to the Just Us Girls Challenge Blog and check out the wonderful creations by Bonnie and the rest of the Design Team. Get crafty with your stash and join us in the gallery! I can't wait to see how our players are inspired.

Birthday Potpourri

It's time for a new challenge at Just Us Girls. We are hosted by Carol Mc for Color Week and she has chosen two fabulous colors for us to play with. We extend a warm welcome to the incredibly talented Bonnie Klass as our Guest Designer for the month of August. We are so thrilled to have her designing with us!

These colors are so bold and fun, I wanted them to really sing on my card! I smooshed them onto a 9x12 sheet Bristol paper (plenty left for future projects), then splattered with white pigment paint. From that smooshed sheet, I die cut a A2-ish large panel with Concord & 9th's Potpourri Dies and adhered it to a black base. The result was so dramatic so I didn't need more than a sentiment to finish my card. I had some pre-pressed and cut sentiments ready to use, so I popped one onto  the smooshed panel and my card was complete.

Please head over to the Just Us Girls Challenge Blog and check out the wonderful creations by Bonnie and the rest of the Design Team. Get crafty with your stash and join us in the gallery! I can't wait to see how our players are inspired.

Enjoy Your Vacation!

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out. This time it is an Inspired By Words challenge, which means that we interpret the words of a quote in our projects. The quote is:

"It's always Summer Somewhere"

You can chose one or some words from the quote, or the whole quote as your inspiration. For example, the word "always" can be used in a love themed card. Whatever you do, create something inspired by these specific words. If it is not obvious, pease describe how you were inspired in your post. Most of all, have fun!

We are once again sponsored by Varada Sharma with a generous $25.00 store credit for our winner who will also get an invitation to Guest Design with us for a future challenge.

Our Guest Designer is Betty Keefe of created by bjk, Honorable Mention Recipient of Time Out #265. Please visit her blog, give her a warm welcome and leave her some love.

In creating my card, my mind went right to Summer vacation. My card is a CASE, well almost a copy really, of THIS card created by Michele Ferguson. When I saw it on her BLOG, I fell in love with it and HAD to have all of the supplies. This happens most often when I see Michele's work. She's dangerous that way! So I immediately went on a search for the supplies it turned out that the Harvest Home stamp set and the Destination Summer Die set was already retired and I can't find them anywhere. I really needed/(wanted) all four. THEN, I had the great joy of visiting with Michele in June. So when I was there (pinch me) I had to make the same little scene on a leaf which was so much fun. I brought it home for later use, and here it is. I also made the July 4th one, so it will appear at some later date - maybe next July, or, perhaps, this November. It depends...  Anyway, I love it, and it was the perfect thing for this challenge at Time Out!

You can check out all the details on the Time Out Challenge Blog where you can also see what the rest of the Design Team has created for your inspiration. Come play with us!

Hello

Summer is doing its Swan Song at The Four Seasons Challenge. It is our third final Summer themed challenge of 2024. This gorgeous mood board is there for your inspiration, but anything Summer goes.

I took my inspiration from the photo on the bottom left. I used my BetterPress to press this gorgeous floral image where the poppy is the star, and colored it with Zigs. I thought the Greetery's Nordic Frame would work perfectly with it, and it did.  Take a look at the moodboard, and see what inspires you. The Design Team members have created wonderful projects to inspire you. Check them out on the challenge blog HERE. Make yourself a cuppa, get crafty, and join us in the gallery. I can't wait to see what you create!
