It's time for a new challenge at Festive Friday where every challenge is an inspiration list based on a selected holiday/festivity from the traditional to the unusual. Challenge projects must include at least three items from the festivity inspiration list. Your project does not have to go with the challenge theme. You can just use 3 or more items from the inspo list for your creation.
Today's festivities are inspired by National Peanut Butter Love's Day, which takes place on Tuesday, March 1st. The challenge runs from February 18th to February 28th.
I like to create a card for our challenge that goes with the theme. For this one, I dug into the deep, dark recesses of my stash and pulled out the Perfect Match stamp set from Sweet Stamp Shop. I've had it since 2012 and never inked it up. It was time! I stamped the peanut butter and jelly bread images along with the sentiment, colored them with Copics, added a little WOS and die cut the panel with Spellbinders Square Hemstitch dies.
The peanut butter reference is obvious, but in looking to add some texture to the background, I found my also never-before-used SU Painted Texture Embossing Folder, and it really reminded me of smeared peanut butter on bread. I embossed a piece of kraft card stock, swiped it with some Tea Dye Distress Ink for more definition, popped up the white die cut panel, added some twine to match the grape jelly adhered it to the kraft card base, and my card was complete.
I used neutrals, brown, texture and twine from the inspo list.
Come play with us! Remember that your project does not have to go with the challenge theme. You can just use 3 or more items from the inspo list for your creation!

A favorite technique of mine is to add texture with embossing folders swiped with ink.
Stephanie, this is just too adorable! My favorite grape jam, too?? You shouldn't have!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for that embossing folder - rocked it!

It's fun that you always can come up with a stamp set to match the theme even if you have to go back 10 years! This was certainly worth it and your card is darling! Looks like you sponged on your embossed background which looks awesome too! Blessings, Beth :)

ReplyDeleteStephanie, I love that you finally inked up this super cute stamp set after all this time! That background is just fabulous and adds so much wonderful texture but doesn't detract at all from the focal point. Your jelly reminds me that the Orioles will be arriving in about 3 months and will be eating us out of house and home! Thanks for reminding me that spring will be arriving - sometime :-)
