Tidings of Comfort & Joy

Over the weekend, I made many card fronts with PinkFresh Studio's Holiday Botanical Background Layered Stencils in traditional Christmas colors. When I saw the badge for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Color Challenge, I was inspired to use all blues and see how I liked it. Well, I loved it. I used Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Uncharted Mariner and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Inks. I decided to use Waffle Flower's Oversized Joy stamp and die set for my sentiment using SU Brocade Blue card stock for the shadow, and a blue-hued glitter paper from Memory Box's Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad. I love the way it turned out.

Bake Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

I bought The Greetery's Bake It Merry stamps & dies last year, but did not pull them out until yesterday. I bought it with a particular dear friend in mind. She is a Christmas cookie baker extraordinaire. I had to have it to make a card for her. December 17th is cookie baking day at her house, so I popped this baby in the mail today so it gets there beforehand. I LOVE this set of stamps and dies. I paired with with a Cuttlebug EF that has been in my stash forever... I think the circles and trees look like stamped tree cookies. The sentiment is stamped, heat embossed and die cut with a sentiment strip die from Pink & Main. So fun.

Merry Christmas Bauble

The other day I was leaving some love for Lisa Elton of My Paper Tales and found this fabulous card (below) looking back at me. Isn't it beautiful?? I knew I had to CASE it... well, I pretty much copied it.

My Drop Ornament Memory Box die is so similar, so I pulled it out along with a BasicGrey 6x6 Christmas themed paper pad from 2009 that I have used a lot but still have a lot to go, and I went to town cutting strips, piecing them together and die cutting. I popped the ornament up on fun foam. I heat embossed, die cut and popped up the two pieces of the sentiment (The Greetery) and placed them on the ornament. I then glued the finished ornament on a panel that I dry embossed with Spellbinders Scenic Poinsettias EF and adhered that panel to a white card base. I love the way this turned out. Thank you, Lisa, for the inspiration!

Christmas Peace

The other day I played with embossing folders and made many beautiful backgrounds. Today I began to make cards with them. I love the way this one came out. I know several people who are really suffering physically and emotionally during this time, and I wanted to find a way to send holiday greetings that would soothe the soul. It is not a very merry and jolly time for everyone. I though this was such a perfect way to convey a loving message of comfort.

The glitter paper is copper colored, and the enamel dots are red. It is hard to see the true colors in this picture. It is a very gray day where I am and photos are not easy.

Merry & Bright

Time Out Challenge #228 begins today. This time we have a theme - Winter Holiday.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Newton's Nook Designs. Challenge winner will receive a $25.00 voucher to use at the Newton's Nook Store.

We welcome Sue Symens of Sentimentally Sue as our Guest Designer. Sue is a very talented card maker with a (most often) CAS style. Her blog and Instagram are chock full of wonderful inspiration. Treat yourself to a look and your creativity is sure to be sparked!

To create my card, I used the Holly Botanical Background Layering Stencil Set from Pinkfresh Studio and various SU inks for my border. I added the CZ Designs Merry & Bright die cut in red foil card stock backed with vellum and three SSS snowflakes cut from glitter card stock. This was an easy, quick and very festive card.
