3D Embossing With Vellum Birthday

Time Out Challenge #305 has opened. It is an "Inspired By" challenge where we are challenged to use a favorite card making technique. Now, if you have been making cards for a while, this may be a really tough choice. Just pick something you love to do and run with it! I recently discovered this 3D Embossing with Vellum technique, and for the moment, it is my favorite!

We are generously sponsored by Top Flight Stamps. Our Challenge Winner, as chosen by our Design Team, will receive a $25.00 store credit to Top Flight along with an invitation to join us as Guest Designer for a future challenge.

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is Gundi of Paperielle who has chosen mixed media as the technique for her incredibly beautiful card. Check out her gorgeous work on the Time Out Challenge Blog where you can also link to her project on her blog. Treat yourself to a visit to Paperielle. You will be so glad you did.

Now about my card - I ran across THIS video by Jo Simons where she demonstrates how she embosses vellum without it cracking and gets 2 pieces to play with each time. This works beautifully and I went a little overboard making many panels for future cards. Jo also highlights the vellum panel with white ink to bring the embossed image to life. I just love this effect, and I love the way my attempt turned out.

  3. I adore vellum (never let my stash run out) and dry embossing is my favorite card element, but I seldom emboss vellum. Your card is absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for the link to the video, Stephanie.

  15. Stephanie, I rarely emboss in vellum because my old machine used to cut unevenly and I'd end up with split vellum. Thank you for reminding me why I NEED to use this technique again. I love the almost vintage feel of your card. Your embossed vellum reminds me of flocked wallpaper (in a good way!) so full of gorgeous texture and softness. Gorgeous
